In this picture shows the moment I shift my mentality to just finishing the race (around 23 miles). No excitement anymore, no surges anymore. One goal left: make it to the finish line as strong as you can.
What helped me the most was taking it mile by mile—focusing on the person in front of me and trying to catch him, or at least get a little closer each mile. I was really trying to convince my mind that another wave of energy was going to come later. Maybe if I slow down just a little bit I’ll get passed by a lot of people. Maybe someone or more will hit the wall and I will end up on the podium. You just need to go, just keep going.
It’s like trying to convince my mind that it’s going to be ok… just get me there. Don’t fail me.
