coloradosprings.gov/page/north-cheyenne-canon There are two Visitor Centers in the park.

North Cheyenne Cañon Park is a Regional Park of the City of Colorado Springs park system. The park was created in 1885 and has been a heavenly retreat for locals and tourists alike since then. The park has over 1,000 acres full of trails and scenic views for everyone to enjoy. The Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center is closed for the remainder of 2022, it will reopen Summer of 2023. Starsmore Visitor

and Nature Center is open Tuesday - Saturday from 9am - 3pm, hours will increase come Summer 2023. Admission is always free to enter the Park and Nature Centers. The park offers many great programs and events throughout the year. Every spring and fall, thousands of elementary students from the Pikes Peak Region will attend programs at Starsmore. These paid programs can be scheduled by calling 719-386-6088. Major events are held in the park as well. The Hummingbird Festival happens every May, Canvases in the Cañon happen in August, and the Halloween Costume Carnival happens the weekend before Halloween in October. New events and programs are always being offered, so please call for new details! At Helen Hunt Falls, during the summer season, many daily programs are offered. Volunteers offer donation-based presentations on local geology, hummingbirds, gold panning, and more! Postcards and momentos are offered inside the Visitor Centers for a small donation.

Spring is for the birds!!! From March to July, ground nesting birds are searching for a place to lay their eggs. Please be mindful this season and remember to stay on designated trails and keep your pets on leash. Birds make their nests in some strange places and it is very difficult to spot those nests to avoid possibly stepping on or disturbing them. North Cheyenne Canon Park ground nesters include towhees, juncos, water ouzels, and of course ducks. If you know of others please comment and let us know!
(of course not all the birds represented in the pictures can be found in our park!)

Here is a nifty item one of our canine visitors brought to the park: an odor free poo pouch!!! Apparently this item really is odor free and makes packing out the odiferous doggie byproducts a more reasonable task! Just google odorless poo bags for many options.
I know what my doggos are getting for their birthdays this year!! It's a great way to practice Leave No Trace!🐕 www.lnt.org

Colorado Springs loves dogs!! We have some of the best dedicated dog parks anywhere! But if you want to bring your canine best friend to one of the city parks that is not designated as a dog park, like North Cheyenne Canon Park, that's ok too! Just be aware that City Code requires all dogs be on a leash and dog owners are responsible for the removal of all their waste. Practice Leave No Trace Principle #3: Pack it out and properly dispose of waste!
