The big sale is done and we’re all packed up (well, mostly). Time for us to ride off into the sunset.

We wanted to take some time to thank each and every one of your for your support and business over the years. 15 years, to be exact! Time sure does fly. We’ve made some amazing friends and met so many great people! You guys really have become like extended family to us.

When we first opened, we never imagined this little range would bring so many amazing people into our lives! Honestly, we didn’t really know what to expect back then. But we knew we wanted to be a family friendly place where people could come and shoot. I think we accomplished that and more.

A special thank you goes to all of you who have come by and helped us with packing up and closing the business. We know it’s not the happiest thing to be doing, but we so appreciate you.

We aren’t going away completely – we still have our security training school (www.sostraining.net if you're interested!). If anyone is ever in the need for some security officer training, come see us! It would be great to see some old familiar faces there.

Not to get too sappy here, but I know that Jeff would be so proud and so honored to see how much you all supported us. How everyone rooted for us to be able to reopen after the fire. How so many of you came in and bought memberships, gift certificates, and all of the things just to help out this family business. I know without hesitation that Jeff would be so touched to see how many of you cared about us. Our family built this business, but without you all, it wouldn’t have been possible.

We’re going to miss the stories, the laughter, the super cool guns, all of it. Mostly, though, we will miss all of you!

Hey Facebook family.

As much as it pains us to have to write this, unfortunately the range will be unable to reopen. The Smoking Gun is officially closing.

The building owner got word this morning from his insurance company this morning that the final payout for the damage from the fire would be substantially less than it is going to cost to rebuild. Instead of giving him replacement cost, they depreciated everything. The range is pretty old, so you can imagine what that cost difference would be.

The last date for gun transfers will be September 30. Any guns that come in after that will have to be returned to the seller because they will be undeliverable.

If you have a membership or gift certificate, send us an email at [email protected]. We'll work on getting those refunded as soon as we can process them.

Thank you to everyone who has stood by us all these years! We'll make a much sappier goodbye post as we get closer to October 1. But just know how much your business and support has meant to our family over the years.

Have you ever wondered what the range looks like under the steel plates? Well, now you know!

Demo is taking a little longer than we initially planned. There was some extensive damage behind the plates in a few areas. So, we're looking at another few weeks until the lobby can reopen. But at least we have some progress!

YOU. GUYS. WE HAVE AN UPDATE!

We will finally be able to start demolition on Tuesday!

Demolition will last about two weeks. During that time, the lobby will be closed. Completely closed. It's a safety issue to have customers in there while we're ripping the place apart.

*If you have a gun that's already been ordered and will be headed to us, you won't be able to get it until the demo is over. We highly recommend contacting the seller and asking them to hold it if at all possible. You can track the shipment and let us know if it's supposed to be delivered today or Monday, and we might be able to get your paperwork done in time.

*If you plan on ordering a gun, please wait until the lobby reopens. We'll post here as soon as we can have customers in the lobby again.

This is an exciting first step!!! Thank you to everyone who has stood with us while we wait to get our range reopened. We are honored to have each and every one of you as customers. We promise some exciting stuff is coming once we reopen!

Sharing this again for anyone who may have missed it. We haven’t forgotten about everyone! Here is a range repair update:

The insurance company that insures the building is dragging their feet. We still haven’t even been able to demolish the damaged portions of the range to begin repairs. The adjuster with The Cincinnati Insurance Company refuses to even approve the claim to tear up what was damaged during the fire. In fact, during his most recent trip to the range to inspect it last week, he said he was “just going to kick back” any estimate for demolition.

The nonchalant attitude from The Cincinnati Insurance Company is, quite frankly, appalling. They know we can’t reopen and our business completely depends on the range being able to run. Yet, they outright refuse to approve even the most basic parts of the repair process. If anyone wants to call or email them and voice your displeasure with how this is being handled, we would love your support! Also, we'd appreciate it if you could share this post or tag anyone who might be able to help us get the insurance company off of their a$$es so we can reopen!
