🎉 Early Childhood Instructors spend their days pouring into others, and parents know there's rarely a quiet moment at home.
Yet somehow, Kenz continues to make herself a priority; not because it's easy, but because she understands that taking care of herself helps her show up as the best teacher, mom, significant other, and role model she can be. 💪
Her consistency, resilience, and willingness to invest in her own health are inspiring reminders that progress isn't about finding the perfect time... it's about showing up anyway. 👊
We're so thankful she's part of the Get A Grip family, and to help celebrate her FIFTH Grip anniversary, we asked her a few questions so everyone can get to know her a little better!
👇 Read her answers below!
1) What's the biggest challenge of balancing motherhood, working, and prioritizing your health?
“Time- Always trying to find more hours in the day. My mornings start at 5 a.m., making sure everyone is up, ready, and where they need to be—school, work, and every practice, game, or event in between. Some days are exhausting, but knowing my family is taken care of makes every early morning and late night worth it. It also helps having a supportive family- they say it takes a village, they were right!”
2) What motivates you to show up on the days when you're exhausted and could easily skip a workout?
“A year ago, I made the decision to keep showing up for myself, even on the hard days. Looking back now, the difference is more than just the number on the scale—it's the confidence I've gained, and the mindset I've developed along the way. A huge thank you to my fit fam for always pushing me, encouraging me, and reminding me that I'm capable of more than I think.”
3) What's one thing you've learned about yourself since joining Get A Grip?
“I’ve learned to deal with the mental mind game it takes to better yourself. For a long time I thought 'there’s no way I can do this,' I definitely owe my brother a shout out for pushing me to come try Get A Grip! It’s the same thing, when coming in and seeing 'burpees' on the board for the workout, I don’t want to do them but I know what I can do 🤪”
4) If your boys could understand what you're doing at the gym, what lesson would you hope they're learning by watching you?
“One lesson I hope my boys are learning from watching my journey is to always be kind to yourself and celebrate every win—no matter how small. Not every victory is measured by the number on the scale. Sometimes the biggest wins are simply showing up, staying consistent.”
5) What's your favorite way to celebrate progress that doesn't involve a scale or a mirror?
“My favorite ways are showing up, even when I don't feel like it. Looking back and seeing how many gym sessions I fit into a month. Lifting heavier than I thought I could. Running farther than I ever imagined. And most of all, celebrating the discipline I've built along the way.”
6) What has surprised you most about your fitness journey so far?
“What has surprised me the most throughout this journey is looking at my progress pictures and thinking how did I ever let myself go? I’m also amazed by how far I can push myself during workouts. There were times I never thought I could lift that weight, run that distance, or finish that extra rep—but I proved to myself that I was more than capable.”
7) Finish this sentence: "Get A Grip has helped me become more ____."
“Get A Grip has helped me become more self-aware and motivated throughout my fitness journey. It has encouraged me to recognize my strengths, areas where I can improve and stay committed to my goals! Get a Grip has pushed me to challenge myself, believe in my abilities, and continue growing both physically and mentally.”
