MEMPHIS CITY AUTO TWILIGHT

It was a HOT one last night at Mike Rose Soccer Complex as competed in the Memphis City Auto Twilight!

Our runners faced some extremely hot racing conditions and a huge field, with teams from all over the Mid-South and beyond. There were 16 girls teams and 22 boys teams competing.

On the boys side, Noah Bryant had a big race, finishing 2nd overall in 5:01, while Mason Patrick finished 5th overall in 5:09. Sam Lingerfelt was our third runner across, finishing 23rd in 5:27. Benny Evans (5:45) and Ramon Cuesta (5:50) rounded out our top five.

For the girls, Leah Wright led West with a 6:18.28, finishing 24th overall, with Amelia Patrick right behind her in 25th at 6:18.32 — only four-hundredths of a second separating the two. Claire Graham was our third runner across in 6:45, followed by Julieta Martinez-Trevino (6:46) and Anvi Vijendra (6:50) to round out our top five.

It was a tough night to race with the heat, but our West Dragons hung in there and competed against a very strong field.

Up next: We kick off the Memphis Youth Athletics race series Wednesday night with Race #1 at Shelby Farms. Then Saturday, it’s time for a road trip to Decatur, Alabama, for the Chickasaw Invitational!

You can tell a lot about the level of competition by watching the start.

When the gun goes off, there’s no waiting around. These athletes are FAST, and they attack the course from the very first step.

Friday Night Fever brought together some of the best middle school runners from across Tennessee, and and were right in the middle of it, battling from the start.

Big race. Fast competition. Exactly the kind of challenge we want for our athletes.

Friday Night Fever Recap!

The West Dragons made the trip to Hendersonville Friday night and had a strong showing against a field packed with some of the best middle school programs in Tennessee!

🔥 Varsity Boys finished 6th out of 19 teams, just two points behind 5th place! Leading the charge were Noah Bryant and Mason Patrick, with BOTH earning Top 10 finishes and a trip to the stage for medals! 🏅🏅

Noah finished 4th overall with a blazing 10:56.60, while Mason crossed the line 8th overall in 11:15.98. Newcomer Sam Lingerfelt, with a strong start to his season, was next for West in 11:53.10, followed by Ramon Cuesta and Logan Case to complete the scoring five.

🔥 Varsity Girls finished 9th out of 17 teams and were led by a pair of strong performances from Amelia Patrick and Leah Wright. Amelia finished 22nd overall in 13:19.09, with Leah right behind her in 23rd at 13:23.29. Cora Schatz, Lauren Foster and Isabella Whitby completed the scoring five.

And the JV teams had a really good night! The JV Boys finished 5th out of 14 teams, led by Rory Brown, Alexander Arthur and Finn Riley, who all finished within five seconds of each other.

The JV Girls finished 6th, led by Ritvika Senthilkumar Ajitha and Jocelyn Bryant. Another good opportunity for our younger runners to get some racing experience against a big field.

A lot to like from this group Friday night, and still a lot of work ahead!
