PHILADELPHIA'S FIRST KARATE SCHOOL
Founded in 1960 by Louis Rabouin who moved to the Philadelphia area from San Francisco in 1959, the Shuto Karate Club at 119 W. was the first school of Shotokan Karate east of the Mississippi. It's opening predated the arrival of Japan Karate Association instructors to this area by nearly two years. Pennsylvania clubs are currently located in Sellersville, a

nd Skippack twp. offering instruction in Karate, Ki Meditation, and Bokken Jutsu. Louis Rabouin, regarded as one of the pioneers of American karate, retired from regular teaching in 2007 at the age of 81 and turned chief instructor duties over to Larry L.

🚨Personal Safety Seminar: Learn Practical Self-Defense Skills 🚨

Whether you're heading off to college, working late, traveling alone, or simply want to feel more confident, this seminar is designed to teach practical skills that anyone can use.

Open to ages 17 and up.

🗓 Wednesday, October 21 | 6:30–8:00PM

📍 Shuto Karate Club
821 Cassel Road, Skippack

💲 $25 per person

⚠️ Only 6 participants per class to allow for individualized instruction.

During this 90-minute seminar, you'll learn:
✅ Personal safety awareness
✅ How to protect yourself at home, at work, in your car, and while traveling
✅ Practical self-defense techniques that anyone can learn
✅ Ways to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations

The seminar is taught by a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper who also serves as President of the American Self-Defense Karate Association, bringing decades of real-world and martial arts experience to the class.

This class is especially valuable for:
🎓 Students leaving for college
🚶 Those who walk, hike, or exercise alone
✈️ Travelers
👩 Anyone who wants to increase their confidence and personal safety

Also, please don’t forget to RSVP for our Dojo Clean-Up Day! 🧹🥋 We’d love to have as many families as possible come out and help get the dojo ready for the new season.
