Today is a very special day! ❤️🥋

Five years ago, almost to the day, Jess walked into her very first Taekwondo class as a white belt!

She was SO excited to finally start doing the thing that I had loved for so much of my life. At the time, neither one of us had any idea just how good she was going to become.

The first picture is Jess the day after her very first TKD class!

The second is Jess today, a Black Belt, wearing her new WORLD CHAMPION uniform!! 🌎🥇

From a white belt to a World Champion in just five years!

Jess, all of us at Aggieland Martial Arts could not be more proud of you! And as your husband, I don’t think I could possibly be more proud!

You are strong. You are brilliant. You are beautiful. And you have worked incredibly hard for everything you have accomplished!

But as proud as I am of the competitor and World Champion you have become, one of my favorite things is still getting to watch you teach our Tigers every day❤️

I love who you are on the mat. I love watching our students look up to you. I love that we get to teach martial arts together, build Aggieland Martial Arts together, and live this absolutely crazy life surrounded by kids and families that we genuinely love!

We couldn’t do any of this without them

And we couldn’t do it without each other

Five years ago, you put on a white belt for the first time!

Our goal has always been to build something special for the families of Bryan, College Station, and the Brazos Valley, a martial arts school where kids can build confidence, discipline, leadership, focus, and friendships while learning skills that last a lifetime!

We’ve been thinking a lot about these five lately ❤️⭐️

Our Founding Five!

Stella! Remi! Cullen! Callen! Bella!

When we started building Aggieland Martial Arts Academy, we were building a martial arts school. Somewhere along the way, these five kids helped turn it into a family!

They were there while we were figuring it out. They believed in us while we were building. They trained, competed, laughed, cried, won, lost, grew, and gave us about a million memories along the way!

And if I’m being completely truthful, I don’t think they will ever fully understand what they mean to us!

We’ve watched them become stronger martial artists, but more importantly, we’ve watched them grow into incredible young people!

We’ve watched friendships form, confidence grow, hard lessons get learned, and some pretty impossible dreams start becoming real!

They’ve represented Aggieland Martial Arts Academy and Bryan–College Station on some of the biggest stages in martial arts, but the medals and trophies have never been the part that mattered most to us.

They are!!

These five will forever be part of the story of Aggieland Martial Arts Academy. No matter how many students walk through our doors over the years, nobody can ever replace the kids who were there at the beginning!

Five College Station taekwondo students ranked in the top 10 worldwide will compete for a world title at the ATA World Championships in Phoenix this summer.

⭐️ TEXAS TWISTER 2026 RECAP! ⭐️

What a weekend for Aggieland Martial Arts Academy at the Texas Twister Regional Tournament! 🥋🔥

Friday night kicked off with our Crimson Phoenix Adults, who had an awesome night in team competition!

🥇 1st Place — Team Sparring
🥈 2nd Place — Team Combat

Then it was time for the Crimson Phoenix Kids! ❤️‍🔥

In the first round of Team Combat, we found ourselves right back across the ring from our friends on Team Sniper! After battling each other all last season, it didn’t take long for the rivalry to pick right back up. 😂 Team Sniper came out on top in a VERY close match, but our kids fought hard from beginning to end!

Next came Team Sparring, where our kids officially moved up into the Junior Varsity division this season. Just like Twister last year, there’s a learning curve when you move into a new division but we know this group. They’ll train, adjust and fight their way right back toward the top before this season is over! 🔥

⭐️ SATURDAY — DAY 2! ⭐️

Saturday started with a pretty incredible milestone! Coach Josh, alongside several others including Master Richie from Rodriguez Martial Arts Academy, was recognized with his 25-Year ATA Service Pin! 🥋⭐️

25 YEARS of learning, training, competing, coaching and teaching martial arts. A quarter of a century, that’s pretty amazing! ⭐️

Season 1 Complete… What a Year for Aggieland Martial Arts Academy! 🥋⭐

What an incredible first tournament season as a school! We couldn’t be more proud of every student who stepped onto the mat, challenged themselves, and represented Aggieland Martial Arts Academy with heart, discipline, and determination!

✨ Season 1 Highlights:
🥇 10 New Texas State Champions
🥇 9 New District Champions
🌎 1 New World Champion: Miss Jessy!

🏅 Overall, our students earned:
⭐ 25 State Championship Titles
⭐ 21 District Championship Titles
⭐ 1 World Championship Title

What a season! 💙❤️

These titles weren’t given, they were earned through hard work, dedication, and countless hours of training. While we love celebrating championships, the best part has always been the journey. Every practice, every tournament, every lesson learned, and every challenge overcome is what makes the destination so rewarding!

We are beyond proud of every student and instructor, who made this season possible. Thank you for believing in the process and giving it your all!

🔥 But there’s no time to slow down… Season 2 starts NOW!

Our first stop is the Texas Twister Tournament in just 14 days, and we’re ready to get back on the mats and chase even bigger goals. The hunt for new State, District, and World titles begins again!

💔➡️❤️ ATA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS | TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS + Super 20 ❤️➡️💔

Yesterday was Day 3 of the ATA World Championships Tournament of Champions, the day for Combat Sparring, Traditional Sparring, and Team Sparring

Every year, this is the day we as coaches look forward to the most

It’s the day our students usually shine

But yesterday… yesterday wasn’t the day we had envisioned

From Lincoln, Coach Josh, Cullen, Khloe, Stella, Remi, and finally Coach Jessy…

Every one of them stepped onto those mats after months of preparation, sacrifices, extra practices, injuries, setbacks, and countless hours of training. They left everything they had out there

Some battled through multiple rounds
Some were eliminated sooner than they had hoped
Every single one of them gave 100%

The hardest moment of the day came when Coach Jessy fought her way into the Combat Sparring World Championship Finals

With the score tied 9-9, one point separated a lifelong dream from heartbreak

Unfortunately, that final point didn’t go our way

Then came team competition

Both our Crimson Phoenix Kids Team and Crimson Phoenix Adult Team earned the opportunity to compete for Combat Sparring and Traditional Sparring Team World Championships

Neither team made the podium

If we’re being honest…

Yesterday hurt

The students cried
The parents cried
The coaches cried

Because when you pour your heart into something for an entire season, it’s impossible not to hurt when it doesn’t end the way you imagined

But here’s what I know about this team…

We don’t quit

Our team is called the Crimson Phoenix for a reason

Just like the phoenix, we rise from the ashes

We’ll study what happened
We’ll learn from every mistake
We’ll train harder
We’ll become better teammates, better competitors, and better martial artists

Because martial arts has never been about collecting medals

It’s about building people who refuse to stay down

Yesterday reminded us of one of life’s greatest lessons:

Nothing is guaranteed
Nothing is handed to you

If you want something badly enough, you have to chase it relentlessly. You have to keep showing up when it’s hard. You have to keep believing when no one else does. And no matter how many times life knocks you down…

You get back up

And that’s exactly what this team did

Today, during super 20 they answered

They walked back onto those mats with confidence, determination, and heart

They refused to let yesterday define them

Instead…

They wrote a completely different chapter
