Take time to "sharpen the saw" as Steven Covey says = this will allow you to be more effective at cutting down the tree!

Here is what I am talking about:
1) Prioritize and Protect what matters most!
-God first ALWAYS!
-Your mindset, energy, focus, and self-care/soul care
-Your marriage BEFORE your kids!
-Plug into a church and serve!
-Personal Growth!
-Sharpen your skill as a leader!
-Join a peer-to-peer group and collaborate!

I believe in adding REAL value in an AUTHENTIC way! (This post is a reflection of that - no AI help)

What happens when you reward someone for a behavior they do?
It gets repeated.

What gets rewarded gets repeated.
It is THAT simple...

There are literally 100's of books and resources on management. How do you "filter" what truly will make a difference?

I have ONE suggestion -> focus on tested and tried methods (not theory)!

That's what I LOVE about the book "How to be a great boss" -> it is FULL of simple, time-tested, practical AND tactical behaviors to practice for becoming a great manager!

Here is pro tip #5 -> Sit down with each of your Direct Reports once a Quarter (AT LEAST) and... Review + Recognize + Reward!

1. Review them (their character and competence, what's working well/what's NOT working well, what are their aspirations and goals, how are they personally, how can you help them and better support them?)

2. Recognize them (where are the succeeding? Acknowledge that! Publicly praise, privately criticize)

3. Reward them (what would be a meaningful and useful gift / reward that they would truly appreciate and feel that you really care? What would help motivate them to keep going and keep serving well for the greater good of your organization? -> make it specific, timely, personalized, and useful!)

One of THE BEST Leadership Books I have EVER read is John Maxwell's "The 5 Levels of Leadership!" Seriously, it's all marked up and full of highlights / underlines!

BY FAR my favorite level is his Level 4 - Reproducing Leaders!

It's all about building "Leaders of Leaders!"

The reason I like it so much is that IF you can nail this one, you have created exponential value in others!

Quick story:
I was working with a Promotional Products Distributor in Atlanta GA and one in Miami FL - both had the same problem: they (the owner) were the bottleneck.

The leaders around them could only go SO FAR with making a decision. So you know what happened? They limited their growth and impact.

BUT, we went through a leadership development program and as a result build Level 4 Leaders! Leaders who lead and build other leaders!

The outcome?
-> The Owner in Atlanta became so successful that he sold the company (they were bought) and he completely exited (100% clean exit) and is now full time grandparenting and pursuing his other passions (being there with his wife, helping a non-profit, being present with his grandkids!)

-> The Owner in Miami FL was able to let go of the leadership development that was happening in the company and they now ran that program multiple years in a row! He has more freedom, more profit, and most of all -> the RIGHT leaders are making the decisions (those closest to the problems!)

It is truly possible to create Leaders of Leaders, but it takes being intentional and bringing in the right structure and coaching to create this!

These success stories GREATLY impacted me -> so much so that I named my personal company "Develop to Empower LLC" -> Why? That's what I do...

I help develop YOUR leaders to then empower them and ultimately bring TRANSFORMATIONAL leadership into your business! It starts with YOU! Are you willing to admit you are the bottleneck?
