You don't need to be a resolutioner to set goals.
I used to choose a word of the year and I've gotten away from it. I've always been big on goal setting, but I think I've let myself get way too specific for myself and not break down things the same way I would for a business (there's a reason those work). So this year, I'm going back to thinking of my overall goal and them first.
Here's what I'm doing (as well as what I used to do and do for my businesses and my clients' businesses):
1. Choose a big goal or overall theme.
2. Come up with the big basics for the year. These are your Pillars. Your thematic goals that can then be broken down into smaller goals, whether quarterly or monthly.
3. Break down the steps and smaller goals. For a business, I'll break down quarterly goals, but for myself I'll choose just my first few months (or just January) so things seem more achievable and not so overwhelming.
4. Share them. I know some people don't like public goal setting, but I believe that sharing in some way helps hold you accountable. It doesn't have to be a social media post, but you could tell a friend, family member, or coach.
