🌿🏆 WE’RE #1! 🏆🌿

It’s looking like a GREAT holiday weekend for golf! ☀️⛳ And with an extra day off, you’ve got one more day to enjoy the course!

We’re also celebrating a big accomplishment: the University of Maryland Golf Course placed 1st in Audubon International’s BioBlitz competition with their Biodiversity Award for identifying the most species! 🐦🦋🌱

A special thank you to everyone from the UMD campus community who participated in the BioBlitz and helped us discover and document the incredible biodiversity found right here on campus. This recognition is a reflection of everyone who took the time to explore, identify, and share what they found.

Our course is more than just fairways and greens. From our tall grass prairie to the natural areas throughout the property, University of Maryland Golf Course is home to an incredible variety of plant and animal life.

Three days. One extra day of golf. And a #1 Biodiversity Award.

Aeration is almost completed!

We know how most feel when courses aerate, but a little disruption now means a healthier, stronger golf course later. Our maintenance team has put in a lot of effort these past two days aerating the greens, tees and approaches.

After all that hard work they all deserved a break this morning for breakfast burritos.

A huge thank you goes out to our maintenance team for their continued efforts!

Always a pleasure to host the Terrapin Open. We were able to expand the field for 2026 as there was an extensive wait-list in 2025.

Good morning (Saturday July 18)

Hopeful final edit; All services have been restored and we should be operating normally.

Edit: It looks like we can take tee times over the phone but online engine is still not working.

We are aware that our tee sheet and booking engine is not working. Our provider is working on a solution but this is a software wide incident not just isolated to our golf course.

At this time we are only taking tee times by phone for today only. We hope this situation is resolved soon but is currently out of our hands. We will post status updates once the issue is resolved.

Congratulations to Ian Patterson for winning his second Club Championship. He won by six strokes, shooting a two day total of 146.

Round 1 of the club championship is in the books.

In the Championship flight, defending champion Dave Dustin is tied with last year's runner-up Ian Patterson.

In the gold flight Ashton Cherubin has a five shot lead in the gross division

White flight, Bill Groux has a one shot lead over Stu Davison & our red flight has a tie for the lead between Gary Kramer and Matt Neitzey.

And that is a wrap on our spring session.

We enjoyed an afternoon of golf and laughs along with a simple reminder for what this game is all about, community!

We were proud to share gifts from a TERP and Veteran Owned company as a small token of appreciation for those that serve and have served our country.

The community built, confidence gained will last far beyond the golf course!

As we celebrate the PGA Championship this week, we’re honored to recognize a true hero; Mr. Bernie Smoot — a 100-year-old World War II veteran, proud University of Maryland Golf Course member, and supporter of our PGA HOPE program.

At our PGA HOPE clinics, he takes time to speak with participants, sharing stories, encouragement, and perspective that continue to inspire everyone around him. His service and passion for the game are a powerful reminder of the impact golf can have in bringing veterans together.

Thank you Mr. Smoot for your service and for continuing to make a difference in our community.
