Whew it’s definitely been a journey!!!
You see Braxton didn’t come from Racing… he didn’t have a dad or a grandpa that raced where he grew up at the racetrack.
He also didn’t start when he was five or six like a lot of drivers who grow up in it. At 12 years old, he told his dad “ Dad.. why don’t WE race” We honestly knew NOTHING when we got his first Microsprint. He was just a country farm kid who grew up on tractors, loved to fish and hunt and played baseball.
Those first two years were very eye-opening to say the least. We might’ve shown up with a nice pretty trailer, but we knew nothing about the sport. It was two years of a brutal wake up call.
Learning who to trust and who not to trust. Figuring out who the real friends in the race world were -feeling absolute failure in every way, night after night. Going through more race car parts than we thought we would ever buy in those first two years!
He started in 2020 and we will always be grateful for the friends who took us under their wing that first year and taught us some of the core lessons that were very, very important to getting started. (( thank you Morans ))
Just like any kid that starts racing at 12 years old - he wanted to WIN… but you see racing is so much more than winning. In fact, sometimes the wins are very very hard to accomplish.
It wasn’t until 2023 that he got his first win and that was the season that his eyes opened and he became a different driver & a different person. We kind of saw a new Braxton that year. We finished that year with 11 feature wins. The next year we traveled even harder and he was in victory lane a lot more times. You could see his confidence start to unravel and it was really awesome to see.
His dad stepped away from being the Crew chief in 2025 to pursue his own dream in tractor pulling… Something he had wanted to do his entire life.
So Braxton had to make several changes -some good and some bad. This was also his debut year in the sprint car, which is an entirely different beast to learn, even though he had done very well in microsprints.
He had a lot of new challenges to learn in a difficult season. Year two of the sprint car (2026) is where we’re at and he’s definitely more confident in the car - he just has a few things to iron out to be better.
There’s one thing that’s for sure.. I think everybody can see that he has talent and he absolutely 1000% has guts!!
It’s fine tuning some areas this year before the big wins come!!
It’s sometimes about slowing down a little to work on some areas where you can improve. We had to switch race teams and adapt to some upcoming changes.
He’s a TOUGH KID!!! We have had to overcome crazy obstacles in this journey.
I fully believe in his talent and beyond grateful for Gods protection and giving us this amazing opportunity to watch his dreams unfold!!!
