Save the Charlesworth Natatorium!

QUESTION—- why was there ZERO mention of our summer swim team in the document talking about FKHS pool usage!!?!? Also—- there was no mention of all the lifeguard training (thousands) done at FKHS or the use of the pool by our amazing Coffeyville Firefighters!!
Our Coffeyville Swim Team utilized and loved this pool tremendously and we have missed it so very much for the last two summers. We 💯 utilize the FKHS pool daily in May/ June and also for conflicts with the summer city lessons at the outdoor pool, not to mention any other cool/ rainy days. Please save the FKHS pool! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 We would be over the moon to have our team of FORTY SWIMMERS (not all pictured, unfortunately) use the FKHS pool year round several times a week for practice during the winter/ fall. There are countless kids where swimming is their ONLY sport. Please don’t crush these bright kids future/ dreams.

This page is here to share updates, information, and news about the Charlesworth Natatorium at Field Kindley High School—aka the indoor swimming pool (for those wondering, a natatorium is just a fancy word for an indoor pool 😉).

Our mission is simple: we will work with USD 445 and our community in a collaborative, positive approach to preserve the future of Coffeyville’s swim legacy by reopening the Natatorium as soon as possible—ensuring it remains a valuable resource for everyone.

🏊‍♂️ Word of the Day: Natatorium! 🏊‍♀️

According to Merriam-Webster, a natatorium is:
1️⃣ A building or complex that contains one or more swimming pools
2️⃣ An indoor swimming pool

Here in Coffeyville, the Charlesworth Natatorium at Field Kindley High School is exactly that—an indoor swimming facility that has served generations of swimmers.

So when we say “natatorium,” we mean the pool, and the facility the pool is inside—because after all, you can’t have an indoor pool without a structure around it! 💜💛

We’re thrilled to share that the *Save the Charlesworth Natatorium Action Group* is actively collaborating with *USD 445* to ensure the Natatorium is preserved and reopened for our community.

A special subcommittee has been formed, bringing together:

⭐️ 6 Members of our Action Group
⭐️ 2 Members of the School Board
⭐️ 2 School Administrators

This team is working hand-in-hand, combining community passion with school leadership, to explore solutions, plan next steps, and ensure the FKHS Charlesworth Natatorium remains a valuable resource for generations to come.
