2025 Snowbird Nationals Report
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Snowbird Nationals is our favorite race of the year. The Snowbirds crew led by Mike Boylan and Kallen Southworth did a phenomenal job with the track and pits as always and the race directors kept the heats running smooth.
‐--------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the Onroad portion the Meridith Motorsports team aka the "JDR Hit Men" was the tag team duo of seasoned veteran racer Raymond Darroch and up and coming prodigy, Maccoy Martin. Both drivers ran the 17.5 & 13.5 1/12 classes.

In qualifying, Ray came out of the gate swinging with respectable top 5 runs in just about every qualifier. He had some rust to shake off being that the Snowbirds was his first big race back since the 2023 1/12 Worlds at Beachline. He would start P5 in 17.5 and P6 in 13.5.

When the tone went off, Ray got to work. Picking off the drivers ahead of him, one by one, taking full advantage of their driving errors. In 17.5, Ray would make his way to the front and never look back. He managed the race perfectly for final few minutes and took home the W from 5th on the grid.

A similar story played out in the 13.5 main. This time, Ray managed to work his way up to 2nd and hold off tremendous pressure from John Dickson for several minutes of the race. Ray stayed stone cold and Dickson eventually tapped out, allowing Ray to manage the final minutes of the race and finish a respectable P2.
-----------‐------------‐----------------------------------------------------
Maccoy Martin had an excellent Snowbirds performance. He had a few solid runs in Q3 & Q4 in both classes to qualifying him 1st and 2nd in the B-Mains, respectively. Maccoy wasted no time and easily took the bump-up spot in both mains, securing the final spot on the grid in the 17.5 and 13.5 1/12 A-Mains. Maccoy had moments of greatness in both mains, making it as high has P4 during the 17.5 main. When the fuzz settled he would finish P7 and P8 against some of the best 1/12 drivers in the country. The future is very bright for Maccoy and we look forward to being a part of his growth as he progresses in his R/C career.

The Georgia Bulldogs have been the #1 priority the past couple years becoming back to back NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. After a short hiatus, the Meridith Motorsports team made their way back to the race track for the ROAR Carpet Nationals in Cocoa, FL at the world famous Beachline Raceway. Daniel Chavez ran 17.5 2WD Buggy and 13.5 4WD Buggy, which were the largest classes at the event.

It was evident after the first few practice runs that, in 17.5, our car steup, power, and driving were on a different level compared to the rest of the field. The first highlight of the weekend was in Seeding Round 2. Chavez was cruising to an easy top seed going into qualifying until the crew chief, Troy Meridith, gave the orders to "Let it eat Danny!" A few laps later Chavez dropped one of the fastest laps of the weekend and shaved about .3 tenths to show the rest of the drivers if they get close to our pace, we were prepared to go faster.

Chavez would go on to sweep qualifying in 17.5 2WD and get 3 of the 4 rounds in 13.5 4WD. Meridith Motorsports would start on pole for both classes at the ROAR Nationals.

Main day was quite exciting on and off the track. In 17.5, Chavez would lead tone to tone in A1 and A2 to take home the first natty of the weekend.

In 13.5, we had a little more work to do. The car was not as efficient in the corners as the 2wd and we found ourselves in a 12 round fight every time we hit the track. In A1, Chavez elevated his game and walked away from the field to coast to an easy A1 win. A2 was a different story. Chavez was slowly building his lead until one mistake coming down the steps gave the lead to, fast up and coming driver, Nate Sutherland. There was about a 2.5 second gap to close with about a minute and a half left on the clock. Chavez dug deep and closed the gap to Sutherland through the high risk chicane coming off the straight away. With less than a minute to go, Sutherland opened the door (About one car width) coming down the elevated stage section. Like water, Chavez moved in made the pass on the inside, and pulled away to cruise to another national championship!

Mark it 2 dude! Daniel Chavez becomes a TWO-TIME National Champion for Meridith Motorsports! The entire team worked hard for this and it couldn't have happened without the help from Dennis R Meridith , Troy Meridith, Raymond Darroch, Tj Bradley, and Dave Ramos.

2021 Summer Olympic Race was held at The Gate in Brunswick, Ohio! Team Driver John Dickson put on an absolute clinic, running 17.5 1/12, 13.5 1/12, AND 21.5 TC. Dickson started P1 in every class earning the TQ spot by a lap in both 1/12 classes and by about 2.5 seconds in TC.

Dickson was the only Trinity motor in the building and walked away with two wins in the 1/12 classes. In 21.5 TC, a last minute setup change proved to be the wrong move, the car was too locked in. John settled for a 2nd place finish.

Great job John Dickson!

2021 ROAR Carpet Onroad Nationals
March 2021
-----------------------------------------

Coastal RC held the 2021 ROAR Carpet Onroad Nationals in Chesapeake, VA. The Meridith Motorsports team arrived at the track in smaller numbers than usual, but showed up geared up and ready for battle. A wise man once said, "Lions walk alone while sheep flock together." The event brought out some of the best on-road drivers in the country and the racing was TIGHT. Coastal RC put down a very fast yet technical layout that required drivers to be laser-focused from tone to tone.

After a few days of practice and 4 grueling rounds of qualifying, Ray would start on the #2 spot in 13.5 missing TQ by only a tenth of a second! Ray's Meridith Motorsports equipped 1/12 scale was not only one of the fastest cars on the track but the most consistent as well. After a solid victory in A1 followed by two 2nd place finishes in A2 and A3, Ray would be crowned the overall 13.5 1/12 National Champion! Meridith Motorsports is starting off the season on fire, going 2 for 2 in the 1/12 13.5 class taking home wins at the Snowbird Nationals and now the ROAR Nationals. Ray also put in solid drives and showed great perseverance in the 1/12 Modified class. Some last-minute rule changes from the race organizers through a nasty curveball into the equation, but when the final tone sounded Ray finished 3rd overall and got his mod car up to pace just in time to solidify a podium finish.

John Dickson has some bad luck during qualifying but showed good pace throughout the event. He finished off his weekend with a B-Main win in the 13.5 1/12 Scale class.

If you want to go fast and win national championships like Ray, head over to www.meridithmotorsports.com and grab the fastest racing equipment in R/C!

Special thanks to Team Trinity, Jim Dieter, Dennis R Meridith, and Troy Meridith for all the help and support!
