Strategic Awareness & Defense Training offers programs through Shelton Martial Arts Academy in Coats, NC. Our base program is Taekwondo Moo Duk Kwan, stressing more combative training and less sport training, though we do both. We also offer Hapkido, which also emphasizes self defense and combative training over sport. We're available for self defense clinics and seminars in the local and surrounding areas, at our location or yours, for ladies groups, kids, families, teens, and more. Master Sam has studied martial arts for over 50 years and has focused heavily on self defense for the non martial artist for over 25 years.

We offer programs for ages 3 to 5, 6 to 10, and 11 and up. We train students of all ages, including into their 70's.

Special programs in safety and self defense are available for groups on weekdays or weekends.

Sam Shelton, owner of Shelton Martial Arts and Strategic Awareness and Defense Training located in Coats, offers lectures and brief demonstrations on Safety, Self Defense, and Situational Awareness as a public service in the local community.

Sam is a Grandmaster Instructor of Taekwondo Moo Duk Kwan, and a Master Instructor of both Hapkido and Conceptual Self Defense.

Talks are geared to ½ hour and hour presentations and cover the particular issues or concerns of your group. (For example: speaking to high school and college girls would emphasize different issues than those of senior citizens).

I've been teaching online since March. I hope to get back to our studio in Coats, NC soon but until then I'd like to begin some students in an online program. They can choose to come into the studio for training as soon as restrictions are lifted.

Strategic Awareness and Defense Training is the Practical Self Defense program of Shelton Martial Arts. Classes to be offered soon in the new studio in Coats, NC. We're just waiting for restrictions to lift. Online classes are available in the meantime.
