Day late but happy Mother's Day moms!

As we walked out to the parking lot, early in the afternoon, much earlier than anticipated, our heads were hung low. We lost the game that would have put us into the championship. As we gathered ourselves along with our wagons, the boys bags, empty gold fish cracker wrappers, sunflower seed shells and whatever else you can imagine would find its way into the mix, we began to forget about our loss and enjoy each other's company. As the baseball weekend quickly came to an end and a real chance at a Mother's day dinner began, I found this bracelet. It didn't hit me much then but after collecting my thoughts and reflecting on the day, I realized the dates on the bracelet and that this is the first Mother's day that Carsons mom would be "celebrating" without him/her. It's unfortunate how we take so many things for granted.

They’re just kids, you know.

The same kid that missed that routine play in a key point of the game is the same kid that just wants his mom when he’s sick.

The same kid that got thrown out running to first is the same kid you used to cheer for when he was so close to taking his first steps.

The same kid that struck out last inning is the same kid who couldn’t wait to find out how much the tooth fairy left under his pillow.

They’re kids out there learning how to be a teammate, how to make mistakes, how to lose with grace and win with it, too… and have some fun out there along the way.

Remember that when they come off the field after a tough game or when you’re feeling competitive in the middle of it.

There’re not professional athletes getting paid to practice, train and play.

They’re just kids.
