"The second twenty years of your life ( training ) are then spent in exploring the ura realm (the inner, hidden, not obvious or readily seen aspects), better known as the shadow side of human nature. These are years for training yourself in the ways that honor, respect, and love can be twisted out of shape and used against you, and for looking at realities in which true justice and benevolence are given appearances that confuse the masses who lack the enlightenment of perspective. Weaker souls are quick to label such wisdom as “evil” or “pessimistic”. Do not fear the strength you gain. The forty years bring you full circle, having taken you through the full realm of human growth and awareness. You begin with the freshness of innocence, gather the stains of worldliness, and return with the wisdom of innocence. You begin empty, fill up along the way, and return empty. Forty years of training is no guarantee that you will ever be a master of the art. It merely readies you for the potential of total development. From there it is up to your own character, personal nature, and life destiny as to how far you will advance."

Kihon 基本
When the visiting instructor has to return to Kihon because no one practices enough Kihon, it’s a message very loud and clear to everyone. What are instructors teaching their students in their own dojo? It starts with your Kamae 構. Nagato sensei said he used to sweat by just standing in the mirror trying to perfect his Kamae. Noguichi Sensei commenced Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki 天地人略の巻 classes some years ago at Honbu because of the lack of Kihon seen in visiting students. As Shidoshi, this is our responsibility in our own countries. This is our job. This is what they are expecting of us. If you don’t have good enough Kihon, your Henka 変化 will be weak and have no substance or bone. Henka is Kihon. It’s obvious who understands this and who doesn’t in mind, body and spirit 心技体.
Respect your Sensei and the art you are practicing to master. Just 道 it.

Most people don’t want to learn the martial arts, they just want to learn to fight or learn some self protection methods to make them feel more confident.
If this is all you want, join a weekend course or a club stressing this training. Studying true martial arts is a life long endeavour - It is a pursuit considered as Shugyou, or austere training. There is no quick route or end to the study of Budo. It is an art teaching a way of living.
The Bujinkan Dōjō is an immersion of practice and study into the traditions, culture, philosophy, tactics
and techniques of Budo transmitted over hundreds of years. It has evolved as Art and is pursued by persons seeking a depth of understanding beyond mere self defence skills.
The Bujinkan Tasmania Dōjō was established for persons to pursue the path of the total martial artist. It is for persons sincerely dedicated to practicing the Nine Lineages of Japanese Martial Arts as inherited by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi and bettering themselves as human beings.

Those who wish to study the ways of Bujutsu and Ninjutsu are welcome to this Dōjō.
