The process matters just as much as the result.
This is a longer look at our first session with Nikki at SCI-FIT Fresno.
One of the foundations of Be Activated is having something to measure - understanding where someone is before we begin, making an intervention, and then going back and testing again.
Did something change? What did the body respond to? And where does that information take us next?
Although Nicki has a spinal cord injury, the same principles still guide the process. We meet the person in front of us where they’re at, we look at what their body is doing in a particular movement, work with the physiology, and continuously test the response.
As the session unfolds, you can begin to see changes showing up in different ways - in her breathing, how she rests, how she sits, how she stands, and how her system responds.
There isn’t an assumption about what should happen.
Before. Intervention. After.
We do something, we tested, and the body gives us the next piece of information.
This was our first session with Nicki. The next time we saw her, we were already starting from a different place.
More of Nicki’s story to come.
