They’re watching how your swimmer moves through the water, responds to different cues, where they’re getting stronger and which skills could use a little more practice. Then, they can meet your kiddo where they are and help them work toward what comes next. 🏊

It’s what makes our curriculum so effective: skills build on one another, while our instructors help each swimmer keep progressing at their own pace. 🧡

Because the next step looks different for every swimmer, and knowing what to work on next is a big part of making progress.

Next lesson, ask your little fish: “What are you working on today?”

When the thing they’ve been working SO hard on finally clicks… 🥹👏

Maybe it’s the float they couldn’t quite get. The stroke they’ve practiced week after week. Swimming farther on their own. Or hearing those magic words: “You’re moving up!” 🎉

The BIG milestones are worth celebrating, but so are all the little wins it took to get there.

Because progress isn’t just about the next level. It’s every new skill, stronger stroke, and proud “I DID IT!” along the way. 🧡

Our local Goldfish - Closter ownership group was honored to join other owners around the country and the Goldfish Franchise Leadership team for an action packed few days of meetings, networking, learning, and celebrating 🎉 20 years of Goldfish Swim School!

While every year is special, this 2026 Owners Celebration held a certain significance. The brand celebrated its 20th anniversary, and it was incredibly meaningful to look back at how it all began.

What started as a big dream and a single location has grown to a Goldfish family of over 200 swim schools across North America.

We are proud that our local Goldfish - Wyckoff location is #24 in the Goldfish system and has been teaching children in Bergen County to swim and certifying 100s of lifeguards for over 11 years!

To quote our Franchise leaders -

It’s easy to look at the swimmer in the next lane and wonder, “Should my kiddo be there by now?” 👀
But swim progress isn’t one-size-fits-all.

For one little fish, a BIG win might be putting their face in the water. For another, it’s floating independently, mastering a new stroke or moving up a level. 🏊

Different swimmers. Different starting points. Different milestones worth celebrating.

So if you’ve caught yourself comparing (hi, you’re human, we all do it 😉), look back at where YOUR swimmer started. That’s where you’ll see just how far they’ve come. 🧡

“What if my child is scared of swim lessons?”

If your kiddo clings a little tighter before class, feels unsure about getting in or needs extra time before trying a new skill, you’re probably wondering: Should I keep going?

Feeling nervous around something new can take time to work through. That’s why progress doesn’t always look like swimming across the pool.

Sometimes progress looks like getting in the water. 💧
Putting their face in for the first time.
Trying the skill they said “no” to last week.
Or getting out of the pool saying, “I did it!” 🥹

Those small wins matter. With consistent opportunities to practice and support from their swim instructor, kiddos can work toward greater comfort and confidence at their own pace. 🧡

How young 🐠 is too young for swim lessons?
For many babies, swim lessons can begin around 4 months old. And at this age, no one's expecting your little one to swim laps. 🙂
Baby swim lessons are about getting familiar with the water through age-appropriate activities, movement and guided play, with you right there beside them.
At Goldfish Swim School - Closter our Mini classes give babies a chance to explore the water while beginning to build comfort, confidence and foundational skills they can continue developing as they grow. Plus, it's dedicated time for the two of you to learn and play together.
