Bismarck-Henning Wrestling Club

Bismarck-Henning Wrestling Club Est. 1984 The Bismarck Henning Wrestling Club was started in 1984 shortly after the junior high school team was disbanded.

Tom Johnson the high school wrestling coach needed a feeder program for the high school team. With the help of Dave Wright, Ralph Thomason, and Mike Johnson the Bismarck-Henning Wrestling Club was founded. Practices were held in the old high school cafeteria (present principal's office)

The first singlets were red from the junior high's disbanded wrestling team. The singlets were old and worn and

the team had to fundraise it afford new ones. The parents and coaches started the "Buy Your Buddy a Goat" fundraiser. The coaches bought a goat from a local farmer and went house to house informing the residents that their friend just bought them a goat! They could either buy the goat for someone else or pay to have the goat taken away. With the new funds the team picked the most affordable singlets they could find. The colors were maroon with white and gold stripes down the side. A "BH" on the chest with numbers on the back. These singlets were used up until the early 90's until they were replaced with the colors of the high school team blue/white/gold. One of the most influential coaches of the club was one of its founders, Mike Johnson. He was the head coach for 24yrs and had a great impact on all the kids that went through his program. The Bismarck-Henning Wrestling Club continues to grow and provides opportunity to the youth of the community. Wrestling season runs from Nov-March and is a great sport to learn discipline, self responsibility, and mental toughness.

From the first practice to the final whistle, this team showed what hard work, toughness, and heart really look like. Every early morning, every tough match, and every moment on the mat helped build something special.
We’re proud of every wrestler who stepped out there and gave it their all. Wins, losses, and everything in between—you represented with grit and determination all season long.
To our state qualifiers, place winners, and every athlete who battled this year—congratulations on a job well done! 💪
Thank you to the coaches, families, and supporters who stood behind these kids every step of the way. None of this happens without you.
Enjoy the offseason, keep grinding, and get ready…we’ll be back even stronger next year. 🔥💙

🔥 STATE TOURNAMENT – CONGRATULATIONS WRESTLERS! 🔥
We want to give a huge congratulations to all of our wrestlers who battled it out at the State Tournament this weekend. Making it to state is an incredible accomplishment and we are proud of every athlete who stepped on the mat and represented our club. Your hard work, dedication, and toughness showed all season long. 🤼💪

Thank you to everyone who has been concerned about Cash. We have had multiple people and clubs send there prayers. It just shows how wonderful this sport is. We ask that you please give the family peace as they deal with the injury.
