Snow is beginning to move into the area and will continue to become steadier as the afternoon progresses. Blizzard conditions are expected to develop between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM and persist well into the morning hours.

Residents are strongly encouraged to begin wrapping up activities and remain off the roads for the evening. Traveling during blizzard conditions places your safety, the safety of others, and the safety of emergency responders at unnecessary risk.

Numerous power outages are anticipated, with limited restoration likely until tomorrow morning. Please take time now to prepare by ensuring cell phones and batteries are fully charged, flashlights are accessible, and home temperatures are slightly increased to help maintain a reasonable indoor temperature if power is lost for an extended period.

Additionally, ensure that snow accumulation and drifting are kept clear of exhaust vents for heating appliances to prevent hazardous conditions.

During the peak of the storm, emergency response times may be delayed due to weather and road conditions.

Here we go again everyone. That rodent out in Pennsylvania wasn’t joking. This storm is shaping up to be more impactful than the last one. Heavy snows of 1 to 2 feet are expected to be accompanied by strong winds. This will make the job of snow removal more difficult. A Town-wide parking ban is now in effect until 24 hours after the storm has passed.

Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary to allow our crews the ability to safely clear them for travel.

With the high potential for downed power lines, it’s important to keep clear of all downed trees and wires. Lines and guardrails may be energized at a point not visible, creating a risk of electrocution. Simple rule: if it’s on the ground, don’t touch it or go near it.

All of our emergency responders will be working to ensure the highest levels of service possible during the storm. Be safe!
