One more week until my double half marathon weekend.

It has been a little over 2 years since the last time I did multiple half marathons back to back and this one will be interesting.

Last weekend I ran two 9-10 mile runs with hills to simulate the fatigue, and continued that this past week by doing hill repeats on Tuesday and 4*400 sprints on the indoor track.

This was from my 10 mile trail run yesterday. Expect posts next week from the races!

Since I have gotten so many new followers the last few weeks, let me re-introduce myself!

My name is Ryan and I’m a personal trainer, runner and running coach. I started my fitness journey 10 years ago because of my dad. He was diabetic and died of heart disease when I was very young and when I saw myself going down the same path I decided I had to make a change.

After running a number of races I decided to get certified as a personal trainer to better my own training and to help others learn what I had.

People like Rhianna who I helped lose over 100 lbs since last year. And others like Colleen who I helped to her first half, while improving her 5k and 5 mile times, as well as losing over 40 lbs!

I train and coach people both in person, and online, and do provide hybrid (a bit of both) to those who are interested.

If you’re wanting to run but not feeling “fit” enough, wanting to lose some weight or gain strength, want to take your running to another level or just want to make that change in your life then I want to talk to you. DM me ”CHANGE” and let’s get talking about what we can do!

Second day of hills!

Ran up the longest and tallest hill I train on locally.

Was definitely fatigued thanks to the hilly run yesterday, but I’m feeling prepared for the races in a couple of weeks.

Hills and more hills!

Did my yearly run through town this afternoon to see the Clinton Art and Music Festival. Also stopped and saw an old friend who is painting a mural at the Cider Mill.

In the end, ran up two big hills in town. Going to do another two hills tomorrow to help prepare for a double half weekend in two weeks, one of which will be half constant elevation climb.

Just wanted to share the pro shots from the Area 13.1 race I did Saturday!

In the daylight, I was feeling great and running pretty fast. Despite my smile in the night photos I was feeling pretty bad physically. Mentally I was fine, mostly, but have learned to always smile when I see a camera coming.

My post mortem for the Area 13.1 half marathon that I did in Roswell, Georgia this past Saturday.

As always I encourage everyone to do one of these after your race to look at what went right and what went wrong in training and on race day.

Unfortunately there was a lot out of my control for this race. If I were able to train in a climate controlled room it might have worked, but outside that there was little in my control.

I feel I would have done fine in the race if not for the intense heat and humidity.

I also recommend this race, it’s very well organized and a good team, but the course was not their usual one. There was construction so they had to make a change for the race to even happen. It was a nice race regardless, but man that heat killed me.

Went around Atlanta for a little before the race in Roswell.

Got to see the Centennial Olympic Park, unfortunately couldn’t walk around it because it was gated off.

Expect a race post mortem later this week. The race itself was great, the weather, not so much.
