The season comes to an end for the Central Comets baseball team as they fall to Gibson City 4-3 in a hard-fought sectional semifinal.

Comets, keep your heads high. This team battled all season long, represented Central with pride, and gave everything they had until the final out. While today’s result wasn’t what we hoped for, it does not define the tremendous accomplishments, dedication, and memories created throughout the season.

Thank you to the players, coaches, parents, and fans for your support. The future remains bright for Comet Baseball.

Blake Chandler and Brayden Meents combined on a shutout as Clifton Central won the rubber game with conference rival St. Anne/Donovan 2-0 in the Class 1A Clifton Central Regional final for the program's first regional championship since 2019.

Jake Thompson will advance to the state finals in shot put on Saturday and still has discus preliminaries later today.

The Central Comets picked up a big win last night and now advance to the Regional Championship game Saturday at 10:00 a.m. ⚾️ at Central High School.

Admission to the game is $8.00 per person. Come out and support the Comets as they continue their tournament run!

Congratulations to Lia Praire on advancing to this Saturday’s IHSA Girls State Finals at Eastern Illinois University! The Clifton Central community is proud of you and wishes you the best this weekend.

Congratulations also to Jake Thompson for qualifying for the IHSA Boys State Finals in both the Shot Put and Discus. Jake will compete next Thursday May 28 as he represents the Comets at state!
