On the morning of the 6th at 11 a.m., the 17th and 18th Kukkiwon President Inauguration and Retirement Ceremony was held at the Kukkiwon Central Training Hall.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Sang-jin, President of the Asian Taekwondo Union; Kim Joong-hyun, Chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation; Yang Jin-bang, President of the Korea Taekwondo Association; Lee Seung-wan, Chairman of the Kukkiwon Advisory Council; Jo Young-gi, Senior Advisor; Kim Jin-ho, President of the Chungnam Taekwondo Association; as well as presidents of 17 provincial Taekwondo associations.
Also in attendance were Oh Joo-yeol, Head of the Kukkiwon Florida Branch (U.S.); Lee Hee-sub, Head of the Texas Branch (U.S.); Lee Chul-woo, Head of the Illinois Branch (U.S.); Chung Dae Sung, Head of the New Jersey Branch (U.S.); Oh Jin-geun, President of the New Zealand Taekwondo Association; and Kim Hyung-jae, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council.
In total, about 500 guests from various sectorsβincluding the Taekwondo community, the sports field, academia, and the mediaβattended the event to congratulate former President Lee Dong-seop on his retirement and newly appointed President Yoon Woong-seok on his inauguration.
