Summer is knocking on the shop door and while we were hoping to stretch the schedule a little further this year, reality sometimes waves the yellow flag. As much as some of the team wanted to make the swing to Talladega, Hattiesburg, and Whynot this week, the 21-hour round trip between all three facilities just is not in the cards for us this season.

Now… if somebody happens to need a driver this weekend, the helmet is still hanging by the door and the days are currently blocked off. 👀🏁
With that said, we are already looking ahead toward a busy summer stretch, and here is where you can catch Grubaugh Motorsports throwing dirt and chasing checkered flags:

Today, Grubaugh Motorsports took the G6 to career day at East Marion Elementary! Brandon, Lennie, and Debbie AKA “Mrs. O’Neill” spent the day talking racing, teamwork, and all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into running a Sprint Car. 🏁📚

We talked with the students about the cost and challenges of racing, but also how much SCHOOL actually connects to motorsports. Racing is packed full of math every single week:
• Fractions
• Shapes and geometry
• Percentages
• Measurements
• Calculating stagger, gear ratios, fuel usage, and more

The students definitely kept us on our toes with the questions of the day:

“How fast does it go?”
“Why do you have wings on your car?”
“Have you ever flipped before?”
“How do you fit in there?” (pretty sure that one a fat joke)
“Why doesn’t it have a door?”
“How much does it cost?”

But one of the BEST questions we got all day was:

“Why do the tires have little holes in them?”

That question alone showed how observant these kids really are.

All in all, it was an awesome day at East Marion Elementary, and we appreciate the school having us out to share our passion for racing with the next generation of fans, drivers, engineers, and crew members.

Then tonight as we were cleaning the fuel system we heard the terrible news that Nascar had lost a legend in their sport. He was a hell of a driver but an even better family man. RIP Kyle Busch!
