Freedom from Society
In today’s world, society has very much taken away the individual experience of life. We have an app for everything. We have social media platforms. We have news and the media to know what’s going on with the world and the latest celebrity trend. We are constantly being force fed societal norms. Yoga is one of the only “trends” in our society that has a truly healthy influence on the individual experience.
Yoga embraces the individual on every level. Through yoga we are able to study ourselves, our lifestyle, and our own experiences. In yoga, we practice mindfulness and perspective. We are able to analyze our view of the world through our own eyes. We are given the opportunity to separate ourselves and our individual energy. We all can feel that people give off energies. Even though there are most likely scientific studies proving the transmission of energy we can just feel it enough to know it’s real. It’s important to cherish the individual energy for protection and health.
When the world comes falling down with disease and terror attacks, we need to focus on the individual experience. In order for society to be healthy and abundant we need a sturdy base. We the people are the sturdy base of society. We hold the power of the individual to keep ourselves under our own self-control. We need to keep our mind, body, and soul healthy especially in times of distress. Yoga offers that comfort to anyone willing to open their mind to it.
As yoga practitioners we tend to hold a mass load of empathy for everything and everyone. Yoga gives us the perspective to vividly feel everything within ourselves and the world around us. In times of despair and chaos this can seem overwhelming to feel everything. That is why it is important to focus on your individual life experience. When you feel overwhelmed with what society and force feeding you, close your eyes and turn within.
You hold the power of the individual experience. If every individual turned the focus the “atman” as they call it in Sanskrit yogic terms, means the “self”. To focus on yourself is to help the world. To help others means to help yourself first. May we bring back the individual experience in order to save the world from chaos. May we center ourselves within our individual power to make a healthy impact on this modern world of collective society. Free yourself from society through your own self experience!
