I was saddened to learn that a friend and one of the best soccer players of all time passed away a few weeks ago. A kind man that I had the pleasure to host in NYC for the USA World Cup draw and met up with him again in Paris at the 1998 World Cup in France while I was coaching a USA All Star team. He took time to chat with our boys during an honorary dinner...a class act, a world class player, and a legend. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND IN FOOTBALL

Franz Beckenbauer, played for Bayern Munich and captained Germany in the World Cup 1974 and was Manager in 1990 one of only 3 people to win the WC as a player and coach. Nicknamed der Kaiser (which means The King in German), he is like the Michael Jordan of Germany....won the FIFA World Cup, the European Champions Cup, and the Ballon d'Or as the best player in the world.

What’s your credit card debt?

FB friends - A report by TransUnion found that the average credit card balance was $6,088 in the third quarter of 2023 — a 10-year high.

Why would anyone spend $ they don’t have????

When we used cash 💰
to buy everything…
You couldn’t go into debt …

When we bartered services you traded your time and talent for something you needed…

So being useful was a necessity for survival as an early settler that needed to cut trees and build their log cabin, and hunt for food or plants to live.

We have lots of conveniences now but the same rules apply in economics…

2024 goal #1 should be a zero credit card balance every month !

We can’t always control our circumstances, like a medical condition or a big economic shift including the real estate crash 2006-2008. I personally lost over a million in real estate and hit rock bottom …zero net worth during that period when banks and car companies got multi million dollar bailouts from the government.

After years of working, saving, investing I was back at ground ZERO financially and had to rebuild

Living in debt results in stress and will adversely affect your relationships with family and friends.

It takes determination, discipline, and effort but ANYONE can achieve a debt free life.

YOU CAN DO THIS:

#1. Spend less than you make

#2. Remember the piggy bank

(Put something away each week for a rainy day…it’s going to rain!)

Jason Kidd …CAL basketball legend also played soccer growing up…

When I was the Men’s head soccer coach at CAL… Jason Kidd was on the basketball team and once met with me with interest to play soccer, but the hoops coaches didn’t want him to get injured…then after two years at UC Berkeley he signed a $40 million Nike deal and went to the NBA

Before he chose basketball as his sport, soccer was Jason Kidd's passion at Grass Valley Elementary School in the Oakland hills.

“I was the opposite of who I was as a basketball player,” Kidd says. “I was a kick-it-to-me-and-I’ll-go-score type of player.”

Kidd went on to become one of the most legendary players to come out of basketball-rich Oakland, a star at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, Cal and then in the NBA, where he won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and was a 10-time all-star as a point guard and defensive specialist.

Now the head coach of the Mavericks, Kidd has joined the ownership group of the Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Club.

“Growing up in Oakland made me who I am today,” Kidd said in a release. “Participating in youth sports defined my journey and soccer was one of the first sports I played. We always had our athlete heroes from the Bay Area to look up to. Between my love for Oakland, the game of soccer, and my mission to create equality for female athletes in their respective sports, I knew I had to get involved with Oakland Roots and Soul so that all youth growing up in Oakland would always have a team in the city to support and aspire to.”

Men’s College Soccer
Stanford defeats Akron 2- 1 on a last minute goal at Cub Cadet field on Labor Day. Man of the Match for Akron was David Egbo from Nigeria and 1 of 17 internationals on the Akron roster. Stanford has only 3 internationals and have won 3 of the last four national championships proving that American players...are developing in the 🇺🇸 ⚽️ system.
