Northeast Ohio Coalition of Disability Organizations

Northeast Ohio Coalition of Disability Organizations NOCDO is a coalition of non-profit agencies that bring together community to celebrate The ADA. Bush.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26,1990 by President George H.W. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment, state and local government services and programs, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The purpose of the law is to make sure that individuals with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. ADA CLE organized, implemented, and promoted a number of community events aimed at increasing awareness and engaging in a celebration of the civil rights of individuals with disabilities. The culminating event, held 22 July 2015 at Wade Oval in Cleveland, Ohio, was a public celebration and reaffirmation of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the ADA. ADA CLE is comprised of agencies and organizations from Greater Cleveland who share in the mission to provide greater access and opportunity for individuals with disabilities. Along with their various constituencies, all of the agencies and organizations share a commitment to engaging the community at large in order to continue to spread awareness about the ADA and to ensure access for individuals with disabilities.

Volunteer Opportunity: Walk, Talk, and Roll!

Do you love staying active, socializing, and giving back? We have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

Quantum LEAP is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our staff at Walk, Talk, and Roll (formerly known as the Walking Club)! The activity runs every Monday from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m., April 21 to May 19.

You'll support participants as they walk, talk, and roll around the Acacia Reservation (weather permitting) or inside Beachwood Mall.

Although a plus, you do not need any experience with individuals with disabilities.

If you are interested, please contact Ted Sielski, LEAP's Community Education and Activities Coordinator at (216) 456-0832 or [email protected].
