Holy Diver Decoys

Holy Diver Decoys 2-part liquid foam decoy bodies with hand carved heads. Made for my personal use but willing to sell some to the right buyers.

Remember, each one has 4 hours of labor so they're not free.

Gonna make some swans. My goose mold was only 18 inches long and I have tried numerous times to get a hold of and/or get someone to make a mold big enough. Instead, I bastardized a Victor D-12 goose field shell. Screw a bottom board inside the shell, tape it up and pour the foam in the ass and tape the ass up. Very labor intensive, but I got 10 of em made when I called it quits.

Just a couple of photos of HolyDiver Decoys on the water this season. I'm sure I've got some more somewhere that I can post, too.

Years ago I swore off plastic decoys. Too many cracked and twisted keels. Too many leakers. Too many decoys with their head ONLY facing one direction. Crappy paint. The list of cons for plastic is very long and the list of pros is very short. (cheap and light) These bodies are made from 2 part poly-urethane liquid foam. Keels are white vinyl. Heads on bigger birds are carved from true 9/4" pine. Smaller birds are true 7/4" pine. Heads are glued and screwed to the bodies. Longer heads have 7/16" dowels through the neck for reenforcement. Bodies are not just molded and painted. There is a meticulous process of completely sanding off the shiny skin and finish carving to achieve a "cork-like" quality to the bodies, except these bodies will never rot. This process exposes all of the porosity of the foam underneath, which results in un-beatable paint adhesion. Keels have 1/2" steel slugs inserted into them to make decoys self-righting. Heavier? Yes, but they cut through the little waves instead of slapping the water every time a wave passes underneath them. Heads are NOT made on a duplicator so there will be variety in your spread with these decoys.
