Luckily my crew for tomorrow was more than flexible and was able to come a day early and take advantage of the nicer lake. The next 5 days look like complete trash wind and wave wise….we will hope to get out mid week and see what changes it made in the fishing.

These fish are definitely in there late summer/early fall transition and on the move. This seems to happen every year around this time so I preach to Trust your electronics. We made it a few miles northeast of the marina and I started to take a look while running out. There’s definitely great Marks and a ton of fish holding between 58-65’ now. Having only 3 guys and knowing the winds were coming I decided to give it a go. The majority of the marks 40-50’ down which is way higher than they have been. I opted to pull my bandits off the wire since they’d be too deep and the deep juniors that should be about 42’ on the 300 wire…… 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Real

What a morning out of Ashtabula, Ohio!

We knew it was going to be an interesting day when the first customer showed up before the captain even got to the boat… and he had four legs, a mask, and absolutely no reservation.

Apparently we had a stowaway raccoon who decided he’d heard enough about the Lake Erie walleye bite and wanted to see what all the hype was about. Unfortunately, the little bandit didn’t get his Ohio fishing license in time, so we weren’t able to pull his personal limit. Rules are rules!

Luckily, the actual crew showed up properly licensed and ready to work, and we put together another GREAT morning on Lake Erie! We finished up with a full limit of walleye plus TWO bonus steelhead trout!

The raccoon didn’t contribute much to the catch, didn’t help set a single line, and definitely didn’t chip in for fuel… but somehow he still managed to sneak into the bragging-board picture like he’d caught half of them.

Another awesome morning out of Ashtabula with a great crew, a pile of fish, a couple bonus steelhead, and apparently our newest unpaid deckhand.

I was supposed to be off tomorrow (Thursday) but the weather for mid to late morning looks wayyy too good to sit at home!!

WHO WANTS TO SLEEP IN AND GO WALLEYE FISHING AT 10am out of Ashtabula Ohio!?! I am looking for 3-4 people to tag along! $150 each. Fishing is phenomenal and the average size has been great!

Show up with an Ohio fishing license, a couple drinks/snacks and let’s load up the cooler with a limit of walleye! Great way to meet new friends and not worry about getting your own full group!

Another 30 quick ones this one for Steve and the boys! Little breezy south wind but definitely phenomenal fishing on one of the nicer lakes that we have had lately. Wire was definitely the star of the show today with the dipsies definitely chipping in at times for us.

THIS is what it’s all about!!! PHEW! What a big freakin’ board of fish today!

We’ve been grinding for seven straight days, learning more with every trip as these fish transition, currents change, cold water moves in and out, and Lake Erie throws every variable it can at us. Some days, it feels like you’re putting together a puzzle with half the pieces missing.

Today, we put those pieces together.

We ran out this morning with a plan, ready to put a beating on ’em—and as you can see, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

But the best part wasn’t the board. It was watching these kids have the time of their lives, reeling in walleye after walleye, and hearing them talk about how they can’t wait to come back and do it again. That’s the stuff that makes every bit of this worth it.

Most of what you see on Facebook is the reward: the big catches, the smiles, and the fish boards. What you don’t see are the early mornings, the long days battling the elements, the constant boat maintenance, respooling wire rods, keeping gear working, and all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a trip like this happen.

And you know what? Today, none of that mattered.

Because when you see kids smiling like that, you remember exactly why you do
it.

Shelby Marchio did another great job on deck keeping the kids busy, the rods in the water, and the net full of Lake Erie gold! Definitely a hard to beat combo there!!!

We were hoping to take advantage of the “early morning window” today before the big northeast winds came but unfortunately my customers car had other plans on the way up. Our 6am planned departure turned into a 730 departure and by then my phone was ringing saying that it was definitely gettin sh*tty out there…..big surprise. We made our way north and let the Grady White do her thing. We pushed about 12 miles out and dropped gear. Absolute carnage. 27 just about as fast as you could get rods in the water and EXCELLENT quality to boot. We made the trip home in solid 3-4 footers with an occasional big one mixed in. Bandits on wire, dipsies, it didn’t matter.

Tomorrow is looking like an exact repeat of today so….yayyy! I can’t wait lol. Shelby Marchio was a rockstar out there lending a helping hand and minimizing the chaos. Stay tuned for more tomorrow!

We FINALLY caught a break and had a gorgeous lake this morning, no rain, sideways wind, lighting, flying goats or whatever else Mother Nature has tried to throw our way lately. With the late morning storms coming we beat feet out there at 35mph and spun around and went to work a little closer to home today. It was fast and furious. Bandit deep divers on wire at 375, bomber 24a on wire at 375, and dipsies with the usual shallow junior thundersticks. We never got everything set and never got caught up. 18 came fast for the Iowa group and they were on the road home early like they wanted!

Well another morning of crazy storms, lighting, sideways rain and more delayed starts but we pulled it off once again and made it happen with a great board of fish for the Iowa group! They will be back again tomorrow for one more day before hitting the road home! We’re hoping for a little nicer lake tomorrow after some big big rollers outta the west today!
