This photo shows the Clemson Bookstore when it was located underneath Harcombe Dining Hall.

For Clemson students in the 1970s, buying textbooks was often a painful experience.

Textbooks seemed to cost far more than they were worth—and once the semester was over, students often had little use for them.

But there was always one bright spot at the end of the semester: Book Buy Back!

Trivia Question
What was the “Buy Back” option?

Today’s Dark Territory Letterman & Trivia Question of the Day features former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who put together one of the most celebrated careers by a quarterback in college football history. 🐅🏈

Lawrence became a national sensation as a true freshman in 2018, leading Clemson to an undefeated season and the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Over the next two seasons, he remained the face of Clemson football and one of the most recognizable players in the sport.

Lawrence finished his Clemson career with a 34-2 record as a starter, giving him the third-best winning percentage among starting quarterbacks with at least 30 career starts since Division I split in 1978.

He also left Clemson as the winningest starting quarterback in school history, surpassing the previous mark of 32 career wins held by Rodney Williams, Tajh Boyd, and Deshaun Watson.

In 2020, Lawrence finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting, tying Deshaun Watson for the highest Heisman finish in Clemson history.
Lawrence departed Clemson holding school career records for winning percentage, pass efficiency rating, and yards per passing attempt, while also tying for the most career wins against Top 25 opponents.

His accomplishments earned him numerous national and conference honors, beginning with his selection as a consensus freshman All-American in 2018.

And while his Clemson career was filled with records and championships, Lawrence also left his mark on the College Football Playoff record book.

Trivia Question
Trevor Lawrence broke a College Football Playoff record during his Clemson career.

What was it?

September 4th Clemson Historic Picture And Trivia Question Of The Day: Emerging Technology

Today’s photo, from 1997, shows Clemson students inside Cooper Library using computers.

For this generation of Clemson students, having easy access to computers for research was still relatively new.

These computers were a far cry from the technology students have today.

Most had little, if any, ability to communicate with other students or access the internet as we know it today.

Instead, they were primarily used to conduct research, write papers, and complete class assignments.

Can you imagine doing your college research today without Google, Wi-Fi, or a smartphone?

It’s amazing how quickly technology has changed the college experience!

Trivia Question
Before Microsoft Word and Excel became the standards for word processing and spreadsheets, what software companies dominated the personal-computer market?
