This is for you if you're an Ambitious Footy Player chasing your Rugby Dreams while also working a busy Full-Time job to pay the bills.

If that's you, carry on below...

The reality is you're likely training x2 per/week with your team.

You're sqeezing in your gym sessions before or after work, or even on your lunchbreak. You're probably arrive at the gym and just start lifting and do what you've always done. You're eating on the run a lot. Recovery is really about just making sure you're getting enough sleep. It's inconsistent.

You're Bronco Time is decent. But you know it could be better.

Your Speed and Power numbers is again decent, but is that going to cut it at the next level?

Are you big enough for the position you play? If not, what are you going to do about that - and how do you know if you are?

You're really just whinging it, with not a lot of structure to your weeks. There's tons of effort - but is that going to be enough to crack the next level and make an impact?

Your team is NOT providing you with any additional High Performance Support.They might provide some general S & C and a connection to a Physio/Physical Therapy spot, but that's about it.

You easily get overwhelmed and stressed out because you WANT to succeed so badly, but doubt creeps in because you don't actually know if you're making progress or not.

But hey, that dream is well and truly alive.

You won't let it go.

You're grinding away.

So, how do I know this?

I just described myself. This was me for 7 years in New York. Going to my job as an Electrician - Training Hard - doing the best I could and battling away for USA starting spots against European Pros in Full-Time Environments.

I did pretty good.

I would have done better with Support. Simple as that.

What if I told you there are strategies and tactics to streamline your efforts, enabling you to smash your Rugby Fitness & Performance goals WITHOUT adding more and more to your plate?

Work Smarter, not Harder.

And I am NOT saying working hard doesn't matter, because a Massive Work ethic is KEY!

It's more about putting that Work into more of the right areas. The areas that matter the most.

When you don't do that it just becomes an all out slog.

You're not being efficient with your time.

Slow progress. Slow everything.

It's like you're stuck in 1st or 2nd gear and can't accelerate out of it.

When making a big decision / let's say in the Sports, Fitness & Performance World.

Most People will base their decision on what it's going to cost, or the time/effort it will take, or HOW it's going to fit into their life.

It's easy for our brain to take over and create doubt - and keep you protected and safe.

Try this next time you are faced with a decision.

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

-Is this a Growth Opportunity?
-How good could I BECOME if I say yes to this Opportunity?
-What's the worst that can happen if I say YES?

Stop settling - and playing on the sidelines and expect BIG results.

Get yourself in the game, and start playing BIG - even if that means getting a little uncomfortable.

You might just surprise yourself.

INSIDE THE PRESSURE COOKER

We just moved house.

It's been absolutely chaos - but we are getting it done.

Day 1 - Wesley decides to ARM the Security System.

We don't have the code.

90 seconds ON the clock.

Sarah and I go into problem solving mode. A bit of panic at first. But then we had to get our heads right to make a clear call and avoid officers showing up at our new house.

We stopped for a few seconds and calmed ourselves down. Then we went ripping into it and got the problem solved (got the code).

10 seconds remaining.

This is a trained response, we have got better at. It wasn't always this way though. You have to go through it to get better.

Just being aware of how you react to pressure is a start.

It's not easy.

Athletes:

How good and calm are you under pressure?

Are you able to quickly problem solve?

Can you execute your skills under all sorts of pressure (scoreboard, post-mistake, time, chaos on field?).

Do you win the downtime on the field? (Stoppages, halftime, kicks at goal, post tries...)

If you can do this (handle pressure) consistently, you're going to bring a lot of value to any team you're on.

I promise you that. And you will be that go to Athlete in the most challenging circumstances.

Don't overlook it.

Be curious about it.

This is why it's a big part of our Coaching plans and Comms with Athletes. And hey, these skills and ability goes well beyond the field too.
