Diamonds Stars Training Academy is owned and operated by Coach Homer Wernsing, a 38 year veteran of coaching both baseball and softball at all levels.
- Including this year, he will have been involved with and been the Lead Hitting & Infield Instructor for Ripken Baseball for 14 years. He also has been a head and assistant coach at several local High Schools since 2002.
- Coach Homer also coaches
the highly successful Summer Collegiate league team in Kernersville that plays in the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League (CVCL). Coaching along with local legendary Coach, Dale Ijames, the Bulldogs team has been the regular season champ all but 1 of the last 13 seasons.
- Since 2010, Coach Homer has also been involved in training players in S Africa, through a joint program involving MLB and the SABU. The purpose is to help train and prepare players, who have been identified as having potential, to participate in the World Baseball Classic. Coach Homer also operates the Diamond Stars Travel Team Program, which is focused on developing good quality people ALONG with good quality players. He has a strong attention to detail and preparing players for the future. Coach Homer has helped coach thousands of players during his career, which includes MLB and MILB players, along with hundreds at the collegiate level. He enjoys working with players of all ages, to help them reach their dream and fulfill their potential. Coach Homer & Diamonds Stars Training Academy (DSTA) was instrumental in the design, improvement and transformation of the the new Indoor training facility in Clemmons. The new facility is almost 10,000 sq. feet. It is showcased by an indoor 90' X 90' area, state of the art "field turf" with a rubber padding underneath for comfort. It also has 5 retractable batting cages, 2 pitching lanes, area for agility training, along with a spacious and protected parent/spectator area. Outside, there are also two beautiful Baseball/ Softball Diamonds; a 90 ft field & a 60 ft field. With all of these features, we are proud to be a part of one of the finest facilities in North Carolina devoted specifically to training baseball and softball players. The Facility Offers:
