If the Sunrise Table Tennis Club hosted a USATT sanctioned 2 player team tournament here in Clearwater would you be likely to attend?
Here's my idea, let me know if you would likely play and if you have any suggestions:
*2 player teams. 8 teams per division.
*5 divisions with 4 tables for each division.
*Each team would be placed in a division based on their combined individual USATT ratings. (That's a total of 80 players.)
*Each tie would consist of up to 5 matches, four singles and one doubles. Example:
Match 1- A plays Y
Match 2- B plays Z
Match 3- Doubles
Match 4- A plays Z
Match 5- B plays Y
The tie is over when a team wins 3 matches.
*Matches would be the best 2 out of 3 (before anyone has a heart attack over not playing best of 5, remember you may potentially play as many as 14 individual singles and 7 doubles matches. That's a lot of matches).
* Yes, there would be prize money and awards for the top teams in each division.
*Each team would have to come up with its own spectacular team name which would have to satisfy basic standards of public decency.
