Veteran’s Reef 🪸

Did you know that the Gulf of Mexico has many natural and artificial reef sites you can visit? 🌊 Veteran’s Reef has a few of my favorite artificial reef sites where humans have helped create suitable conditions for coral reefs to grow. 🤩 The Airplane Barge ✈️ and Circle of Heroes 🇺🇸 are two popular sites out there with coral of varying stages of growth through the years! 😃

I’ve traveled the world exploring coral reefs but it always feels like home in the Gulf! Even when she is giving Lake of Mexico vibes after some weather! 💚🤣 Nevertheless, I just HAD to share these for the coral photo contest with and 📸

This time of year can be so hard for for our manatee friends. 💕 Cold stress can be detrimental for naiive or orphaned calves that cannot find warm water refuge. I’m always grateful for opportunities I have to work with these gentle squeaking giants. Do your part to help protect these magical sea cows by learning about the human and natural threats they face! I’m thrilled to work in a place that prioritizes protecting their populations. 🥰
