Great way to open the season!

And another year older. Ho hum. Ho hum? Welcome home!!

Sunday. 4:30. Mugs in Clearwater. Come green. Be loud. Be passionate. Cheer the game. HEAR the game! And enjoy.

Our focus always was and still is a great game day. Comfort. Fun. Friends. Good eat and drink. Come early!

If you're new, welcome. All ages, all sizes, all colors and all cheering the Birds on their way to another NFCE crown!

OK. Enough Eagles hype.

The new guys will be anxious to make a statement. Our OL backups look good and capable. 65 will likely miss a game.

Our new guys on D, especially the back 4 or 5, may make a big difference. The rush of the DL is the key.

The x factor? Coaching. Will the plays, timing and use of talent on O calls be smart and effective?

Will Vic Fangio have a top 5 D plan and timing of talent this season? Will Mannion expose Patullo?

You'll just have to come by and see if you don't have a paid subscription to streaming.

Mugs hold hundreds in our back room, main restaurant and bar area, deck bar and outdoor seating. Choose! 40 TVS. Plenty of appetizers, cold brewskis, Eagles ambiance and no drunks, brawls or F bombs. Great for families...200 level!

NO money grabs. NO cover. NO pressure. NO reservations. CDHS (Dougherty) and Temple U grads most welcome.

Vets respected, admired and cheered. College achievers cheered. Birthdays anniversaries recoveries cheered.

Yo Philly fans!

We're back!

Spent 3 days out west in Bremerton WA by Seattle, then a few ferry rides and 2 days in Victoria BC (absolutely gorgeous), then more travel into the mountains to Whistler Resort in British Columbia, Canada for 3 more days. Flew home from Vancouver after 8 days back to the US and still hot Tampa. Cool and crisp, days in the 60s and 50s, nights in the 40s, with mountains, harbors and the Pacific everywhere.

Actually saw the Eagles' third preseason game while in Canada. Yawn.

And it's starting next weekend! Another long season ahead but this one very different! No game breaker WR named AJ or coach named Patullo. Everything new. Should be about 6-8 games before we know what we got and can do.

The birds lost all 3 meaningless preseason games. Yawn. No matter, you don't give away secrets too soon. And if we end up 2-2 or 3-3 don't fret. Just relax and enjoy the games.

And we're back at Mugs in Clearwater, upgraded and happy to see us again. The menu still has the wings, burgers, salads, chili and fajitas as always. Please note the new changes, no DJ, and every 1 o'clock game will have a food special, e.g., burger and fries for 11.99. It will be a different special every 1pm game.

Due to my recent challenges I may be behind on our fun, "it's-always-optional" raffle since I couldn't shop. Plus getting things there is challenging. I'm recovering nicely but still dealing with some occasional side effects. Otherwise everything inside and out reports fine so we'll be back in stride soon.

We want to thank OCC for a good season last year. Your cooperation and support is so very appreciated.

And let's thank the many venues and managers we met this past off season looking for our new home. I'll be keeping in touch and stopping in to the ones I didn't get to in person just in case we need a backup. I'm looking forward to meeting you and catching up.

More ahead, don't touch that dial. That's an old TV and radio saying way back in the day.

Another quickie . . .

Mugs is hosting tonight's Eagles preseason game for anyone who can cheer with a Philly accent. We are back at Mugs this season and looking forward to another playoff run with a lot of new talent all across the team.

Mugs is located in the ICOT Business Center at 58th and Ulmerton Rd. in Clearwater. Turn in on 58th and make the immediate turn onto the first side street and there it is.

Win or lose tonight is a big shrug. Doesn't matter except for roster decisions and additional coaching. Stay happy.

I'll be there for our season opener at 4:30 and our first 1 pm game the second week.

Tampadelphia Thursday 8/20/26

Philly brothers and sisters,

After a long search we finally decided the place for our games this coming season, and hopefully more.

We're going back to Mugs in Clearwater.

Color me surprised, but it has the key ingredients for our good game days. Most notably, a complete destruction and rebuild of the men's and ladies rooms. Fixtures were removed, plumbing removed, wall and floor tiles removed, surfaces re-troweled, and everything new put back in.

So re-join us at your usual tables for the good food and Eagles cheers in our separate room that Tampadelphia knows well!

Short and sweet.

Personal update: scans say all my medical surprises are behind me. Everything looking good except for some lingering this and that. When me meet again be sure to tell me how I look the same. {big grin}. If I tilt it's the missing kidney.

Thanks to everyone responding about a place to go. Yes there are some finalists at this point. If we call it for this season don't fret because I'll be in touch with every place you suggested as a just in case because we never know, y'know?

Philly sports Diehards:

Our search for a new Eagles nest is narrowing and will be announced very soon. Our goal is the same: a great game day for us fans.

Tampadelphia is for us, our enjoyment, passion and entertainment. Our bar is high, avoiding the brawls, loud drunks and F bombs that are common today. We prefer a 200 level family atmosphere so mom, kids and all ages can enjoy a game day with good food and drink. We do not prey on Eagles fans with money grabs throughout the season. This is about us, and all Eagles fans are welcome until they're not.

Places are welcoming our conversations to partner with us for our games. While we make no demands aside from good service and cleanliness, we understand the tough spots bars and restaurants are in right now. It's the food costs and staff payrolls, but also insurance and registrations they have to carry. Now add in the outrageous new price demands by the NFL for the Sunday ticket or NFL package (whatever it's called) just to show the games, which makes it difficult for venues to show NFL games that are outside the local market. And it will get worse as the NFL looks to cancel the existing deals in place with streamers like YouTube, Peacock and others, and soon the NFL will strangle the fans out of the sport. So far only Fox TV has stood it's ground on sticking to their contract until 2029. Looks like a monopoly to me.

Back to our search. The final choice will be a winning deal for us, the fans there on site. We will be counting on you to join us cheering there and enjoying a chance to watch for free. Any and all price specials we're offered are appreciated but as men and women with business experience we want our venue to be profitable. To that end we encourage you to support our place and enjoy the menus to the fullest.

Costs are high for us fans too. My insurances have jumped along with every utility and service we buy. And at 30% or better. If you have hefty car payments or high loan rates it's worse. Breaks are appreciated. So we will not be offering expensive trips to games or other events like we did in the past when it was more affordable.

Bottom line: stay tuned. Continue to count on us for honesty and integrity and not some imaginary con job from a fat liar.

A big thanks to the men and women of Tampadelphia helping us move forward again in our 33rd year.

Just one bit of news . . .

We are actively making calls, digging out leads and setting appointments for our new place this coming season.

I am optimistic we will be somewhere unless everyplace has a deal killer obstacle. Talks are open and serious conversations have begun.

Several of us are involved in this and my sincere thanks to those men and women helping to find our new home.

Otherwise it's life as usual and we'll be back to you as soon as something is final.

Many thanks for your good wishes and prayers. They work! My final medical evals are this week. This should be it.

Tampadelphia Sunday 2 Aug 26

Hello all, am bringing some news.

First, more thanks for those just finding out about my personal journey back to full speed and have sent good wishes, prayers and hellos. Very appreciated. Shortly after I was getting rock solid again a dermatologist needed to do something to my face that ended up with a 3-4 inch cut on my forehead. Black stitches. Sore and will be keeping me from driving for a bit longer. Second surgery since April, different place and thing but it's been scars and stitches this year. I don't want a 3rd ahead.

So much for personal.

Re Tampadelphia, we need a new place. OCC says they will NOT be getting the NFL package this season due to higher costs. So, I'm looking. If you have any ideas and suggestions please post or email to [email protected]. We may need to just meet for part of the season, or miss this entire year. I'll post up new news as soon as something is in place. Think positive!

I am looking forward to the Eagles season of everything new and full of surprises. The D so far looks powerful and the new O is clicking. Think positive.

And the Sixers with L James joining us...some say it won't work. Five guys and 1 ball. Too many egos. But I believe it will. Before he arrived I'm sure the team discussed him here, accepted sharing the points and minutes for a championship season and were good with it. Think positive, they'll be on prime time alot.

On my last post my keyboard misspelled Shohei Ohtani's last name incorrectly. Apologies! A bow to you.

The Phils slipped a bit lately but will still make the wild card. Think positive.

As always, Tampadelphia is all about a good game day of friends, family, fun and our team's game. Good food and drink with LOUD cheers with 200 level behavior (we be growed up). We take the high road and are NOT a money grab like others. Simple pleasures, R&R, and the joy of 32 years together, we can't stop our memories now.

Caution urged using debit cards and online payments. Use malware and a security app scans on your PC. Avoid using your phone, it's too easy to hack. Don't download any apps you don't know, especially mom and pop stuff. Think like a thief. The breaches and scams are all around us. Look into YouTube for security ideas or tech websites.

Tampadelphia Saturday 07-25-26

Tampadelphia,

What a sports season we have to look forward to!

First, LeBron James signed with the Sixers. He wants another championship ring. He just elevated the play of a good team even higher.

Next, the Phils are headed to the playoffs. Not saying we'll win it all but we got a chance to run.

Also, the Union are a pretty good soccer club. Check them out, you'll enjoy them.

The Flyers are adding pieces of young talent and will be more exciting this fall.

And the Eagles, can we keep up with the new changes of coaches, schemes and players? Articles and videos predict breakout players and exciting plays which stoke expectations even higher.

Not too shabby!!

What this means to us is this: we have to be careful with our sports money. Can't blow it all on a trip or a bunch of bar feasts. Monthly bills are bummer, keep going up, everything now is over $100 and usually $200 a month. So seeing all these teams and games means we have to think and plan our streaming and sports seasons.

I'm getting better on Facebook. I just learned friend requests. Not kidding. Time always demanded a quick hit and run. Now that I slowed down a notch I'm looking to enjoy things more.

Just got a complete physical and am looking good. Eating healthy and am back to working out.

Happy birthday to everyone I missed since April. I had my wedding anniversary one day and was on the operating table the next. Life has changed a bit but please note it's precious indeed. Enjoy the good times, ones now and ones then.

Hoping everyone is doing fine. Got some bad news for you but that's for next time.

Go Phils! Go Birds!

Hi to all. I'm glad to say that I'm almost fully recovered from surgery and will be getting out and about starting this week.

It was a major operation. Kidney removed. More scars.

But looking ahead, we finished the world class FIFA matches. If you followed even a little bit, it's exciting.

The Phils are headed for a wild card spot unless they overtake the Braves.

The Eagles have a big Big job ahead . . . deciding the best 2s and 3s to keep. GM HR has wheeled and dealed many new faces on this team. Now the new coaches have to decide who to keep, trade or cut. Alot of work ahead. Some units are nicely stocked, others have gaps but I can see HR still making deals as we get closer to opening day.

If anything the soccer matches and MLB reminded me there's more to enjoy than just one sport.

So who would be your top players that are world class, best in their sport? See if you agree with:

- Cristiano Renaldo, soccer, Portugal
- Caitlin Clark, women's basketball, US
- Shohei Otani, MLB, Dodgers.

These 3 rule their sport. They have a practice history and work ethic second to none, and never s**g it while playing. Also they're respectful sportsmen, something all sports need more of.

I'm limited on screen time because of sitting up so I'll sign off here. Let's talk schedule next time.
