Scows have been on Clear Lake for over 100 years and the CLYC has been promoting scow sailing since our organization was formed in 1935. If you’ve ever wondered about the history of these boats, Woody Woodruff provides all of the information in his recently released feature length documentary. This year’s X fleet boasts 4 female skippers, out numbering the boys by 1. And, together, they spent yesterday getting their boats ready for the racing season. We’ll be watching- Sofia Allbee, Thea Sorensen, Brynn Tidrick and Avery Tidrick.

Exciting news for this summer’s sailing programs.

Congratulations Sophia! We look forward to your leadership this summer.

Please join us in welcoming our new Sailing Center Coordinator, Sophia Ollenburg!

She comes to us with hands-on experience, having worked as an instructor in previous years, and we're thrilled to have her back in this new role.

She is a graduate student at the University of Iowa studying Communications, and is also pursuing her Elementary Education degree with a reading endorsement through BVU while working at Clear Creek Elementary. Her passion for working with kids and the outdoors makes her a perfect fit for the sailing community.

A couple fun facts about her:
She has a twin!
She loves boating with friends in the summer — honestly, anything outdoors is her happy place, so she is right at home here.

We're so lucky to have her energy and experience leading the way this summer. Please give her a warm welcome!
