With only a few days remaining in the season, our final client has officially tagged out. It’s safe to say this has been our most successful year to date, and while we’re sad to see the season come to an end, it’s time to shift our focus toward turkey season and off season feeding programs.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our clients, as well as everyone behind the scenes, who helped make this a truly historic season. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Jake Brunette on an Alabama Bruiser! It happened so fast he wasn’t 100% sure on the shot, so out of caution we sent the drone up and he wasn’t far!

Huge congratulations to Justin Godfrey! This was a couple of years in the making. Last year brought the heat, and this year the weather finally cooperated with only a day and a half left. Justin stayed after it with some long, tough sits and very little action but when it counted, it all came together. He even knocked down a coyote for me along the way!

Not pictured is one of the biggest does ever taken out here by his brother Curt. Nothing better than having family in camp great hunts, great memories, and an even better ending!

Clayton, Alabama (Barbour County)

3000 Acres

Available Dates:

December 30- January 2

January 6- 15

January 19- 25

Jan 31- February 5

(Lodging and field transport included, no meals)

2-3 Hunters: $650 per day, per hunter

4+ Hunters: $550 per day, per hunter

Meals available for an additional $50 per day

Minimum of 3 Days to Book, No Max

**4+ Hunters get camp to themselves with 3 or less subject to shared lodging arrangements**

Hunters are allowed 1 Buck, 1 Doe & Unlimited Hogs & Predators

We hunt a mix of hardwood draws, upland pine/cutover and agriculture with box blinds, ladders and ground blinds on foodplots, feeders, bait sites and transitional areas!

We will go over trail cameras/strategy, pick up at lodging, transport too and from stands, track, drag and take care of processing of your deer!

* Hunts can be structured as noon arrival with afternoon hunt on the first day and a morning hunt prior to departure on the last day

Arrival the evening before the first day of hunting with full days of hunting prior to departure the morning after the last day *

* 50% non refundable deposit due by electronic invoice to lock in dates. No holds without deposit, first come first serve! *

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we announce the passing of Zada Lynn Avis due to cancer, the soul and spirit behind Schmavis Big Game Recovery and Catahoulas, who crossed the bridge on May 25, 2025.

Zada was not just a dog—she was a force. A brilliant tracker, a nurturing mother, and an unwavering partner in the field, Zada leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, including over 550 successful recoveries, the honor of being named 2023 Tracking Dog of the Year, and more than 80 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who carry her fire forward.

Her resume reads like that of a Hall of Famer:

Zada’s nose was unmatched. Her feats in the field—such as a 40-hour-old recovery, a 5.2-mile track, and an awe-inspiring six recoveries in a single day—cemented her reputation as one of the finest working dogs of her generation. She recovered three different species over her career and served proudly as an ambassador for the Sportsmen’s Alliance, embodying the strength, discipline, and spirit of the hunting community.

Her legacy reached far beyond the woods. Zada appeared on national hunting programs including The Bone Collector with Michael Waddell, The Hunt Club with Philip Cullpepper, Realtree Road Trips, and The Challenge Outdoors, inspiring trackers, hunters, and dog lovers across the country.

But to those who knew her best, Zada was more than a titleholder or TV personality—she was family. A calm leader with fierce loyalty and quiet confidence, she was the steady heartbeat of the pack. Her presence gave strength. Her eyes held wisdom. Her work—every mile, every trail, every recovery—was a testament to love, purpose, and partnership.

Zada's paws may no longer touch the earth, but her prints are etched forever into our lives and our hearts. She will be deeply missed, forever honored, and never replaced.

Good girl, Zada. Job well done. Rest easy.
