THURSTON FAMILY RACING CAN-AM RESULTS

It was two nights of racing last week at Can-Am, with decent results.

Friday night with the DIRTcar Sportsman, Greg had the car going good and picked up another heat win, which would start him on the front row for the 20 lap feature.

At the drop of the green, Greg settled into the top 5 and was having a great 3 car battle when the cars he was racing with got together on the front straightaway. Greg was able to avoid major contact, but unfortunately Frank Sibley wasn't so lucky and took a nasty set of flips before coming to rest upside down. We are glad Frank walked away from his torn up race car.

When the race resumed, Greg got shuffled back a few spots and while still running in the top 10 another car was forced up into him, dropping him to toward the back of the field. He was able to rebound to 11th at the finish.

Saturday night, it was the final night of kart racing at Can-Am, Maverick and Chase were both ready for their 2nd nights in the Thurston Family Racing/Sanders Motorsports karts.

Maverick picked up the win in his heat race and Chase had a solid run in heat 2 finishing 2nd.

In the feature Maverick was going for the lead but spun out and had to go the rear, while Chase was in the top 3. At the checkers, Chase came across 2nd and Maverick fought his way back up 3rd, good runs by both kids.

Can-Am is off this Friday, but Greg will be travelling to the Utica-Rome Speedway on Wednesday for the DIRTcar Northeast Sportsman Series event.

Both Maverick and Chase may be doing a little more kart racing before the season comes to an end and Sawyer will try to make a few more starts.

Remember to support those that support us, as well as short track and go-kart racing. We'll see everyone Wednesday night at Utica-Rome.

Started P2, and unfortunately fell back to 14th after a restart around halfway. Was able to climb back up to 11th.
