We at NASFencing hope that you’re all weathering the current difficulties well.

We’d like to bring you up to date on our view of the upcoming season. After much consideration of the ongoing pandemic and the upcoming pressures on the district to deliver effective instruction, we have decided to postpone our fencing season until the Spring 2021.

With the uncertainties of the 2020-21 school year, we think it would be more prudent to hold off until the educational environment becomes more predictable. Our equipment has been in storage since before the onset of COVID-19 and we’d like to be able to use it without parents or fencers being concerned about its provenance.

We will continue to monitor the guidance provided by experts at the state and federal levels, the MHSAA the National Collegiate Athletic Association, USA Fencing and Renaissance Fencing Club to determine when the right time to begin competition again.

We’ll use this FB page to keep you informed of developments. Thank you for your support and we can’t wait to salute you from the piste once more.

We know it can be tough cooped up at home. We thought we'd give you a few exercises to do so you don't come back next season too rusty. ;-}

One of unique aspects of Olympic fencing is the number of nationalities that participate and how many of those a fencer can encounter in a single tournament. Here is a lesson you can do without a partner; the language is Italian, but the concept is universal.

So, we must regretfully announce that the NCAA National Fencing Championships and the USA Fencing North American Cup Youth event scheduled for this coming weekend at TCF Center have been postponed. As more information becomes available, we will let you know.

We're sorry and we hope to see you once schedules resume.

Detroit Mercy Fencing is hosting the NCAA Fencing Midwest Regional this Saturday March 7. Women's fencing begins at 9a and men's around 12:30.

We encourage all NASFencers who are interested in fencing in college to come down to Calihan Hall its pretty exciting you can begin to learn the schools that participate.
