A day late, but we’ve been adventuring!
Happy Valentine’s Day to the LoVe of my life. I can’t imagine a world with my Kelly in it. A girl that doesn’t need roses or fancy dinners. A good camp spot with good friends, a fire, good music, and a good whiskey is all she needs.

Honored to be part of the ceremony honoring the life of Addison FD retiree, Dennis Goudy. Dennis was one of the first guys to help welcome me into the Firefighter pipes and drums community in 2010. He had already retired, but stayed very active in continuing the traditions of the fire service. He always had a smile and was one of the nicest brothers around. He was one of the Real ones and will be missed. His service brought out many of the guys I’ve been honored to play with over the years. While it was a sad day for all of us, it reminds me why we do what we do.

Good reminder that what we do has some inherent dangers. Proper safety checks, lookouts, spotters, and strict adherence to standard operating procedures can mitigate situations like this. The places we go can easily be distracting due to their natural beauty, but remembering the consequences of that distraction can keep our entire team safe. Be safe out there!
