MORE ON HOW WE MODIFY
Donna had rotator cuff surgery about a year ago and it was not really a successful surgery. SO, with that being said there are some things we do and don’t do based on her shoulder mobility and/or discomfort level.
Today instead of doing cleans, Donna had seated jumps. This is just one way we modify and check a similar box that the cleans check. Are they completely transferable movements? No, but do they both require you to produce force rapidly and then absorb that force ? Yes.
In this second clip you will see Donna doing a dual KB front squat. The workout called for Pause Barbell Front Squat, but again her shoulder doesn’t like that position very much at all. So why force a round peg into a square hole?
Donna does a great job at exploding up out of the bottom of her squat. If you want to get the most out of your lifts, be like Donna and try your best to be explosive through the concentric phase of your lifts. This is especially important for your bigger compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, Presses, Rows, Lunges, Step Ups…the list goes on 😂)
Happy Friday, Peeps!
