I have had a lot of great dogs over the years, amazing bloodlines, titles, and good looks. But Riley will forever hold a special place in my heart. Today we had to put Mountain Shadow's All Riled Up down (12 years old). She went peacefully in my arms.
Riley was full of drive when hunting, or training, but in the house or the truck, you'd forget she was there.
She would drive you nuts with her whining in the blind or her bark when released for a retrieve. But it was so worth it all to watch her work. I tried to add it up one time how many birds Riley had retrieved for me, my kids, and all my buddies. Best guess is close to 10,000. Anyone could take her, even when I wasn't on the hunt, and she was ready to work. This girl traveled the country with me, making countless trips and hours sitting next to me in the trucks.
Riles you will truly be missed by all you graced with your presence.
