Barefoot Gnome Yoga

Barefoot Gnome Yoga Nature inspires everything I do, including yoga. My yoga journey began in 2011 when my doctor told me at the age of 21 that I had the spine of a 65 year old.

I believe yoga is a way to help heal and connect with nature and I strive to create unique experiences to reconnect us with self and the world around us. An injury from my teenage years that had gone unnoticed at the time had led to multiple herniated and bulging discs, as well as severe degeneration of the cartilage between many of them. I found myself on several opiate painkillers, unable to tak

e care of my kids, and still in pain. I needed my life back. I needed to be able to be a mom and a wife. I needed to make sure I would still be able to move when I really was 65 years old. I had tried yoga once or twice in the past, but had never really looked at as anything more than another way to exercise. So when I came across a yoga video for back pain and spinal health while scrolling through Youtube one night, desperate to just be able to get comfortable, I was a bit skeptical, but so hopeful for some relief. However, at the end of that 37 minute restorative practice, I was able to sleep for the first time in what felt like months. I found I had hope again! From that moment I’ve spent time practicing and learning all I could about this transformative experience. It not only allowed me to live my life again, it taught me about a much deeper connection. Yoga means union. Union between yourself with the universe. Between yourself with the world around you. But most importantly between yourself with YOURSELF. It is now my goal to share Yoga with others and help them make connections as well.

Hey everyone, I wanted to take a moment to update you all on my journey. As some of you know, I've been absent from teaching yoga for the past 2 years after a hip injury and subsequent surgeries. In my last post, I announced my plans to return to teaching, but life had other plans.

After losing our home and becoming homeless, my family and I made the brave decision to leave Florida and start fresh in the northeast Georgia mountains. It's been a journey of healing, growth, and exploration, and I'm grateful for the support of my loved ones every step of the way.

While I've been settling into our new home and making new connections, I haven't stepped foot on my yoga mat... until today. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't pretty. There were bent knees, tight shoulders, and lots of groaning. But I did it, eventually finding ease within the poses.

Although I've been away from my mat, I haven't been idle. I've been working on a big mindfulness project that I'm super excited to reveal soon. And while my programs and workshops may look a little different than they did 2 years ago, I'm eager to share them with you all.

Thank you to everyone who's been patient and supportive throughout this journey. Your kindness and understanding mean the world to me.

As I like to remind myself, every day is a new chance to start again. Let's meet ourselves exactly where we are, no matter what that looks like.

I spent my afternoon getting crafty and making these fun keychains from recycled yoga mats. Each mini yoga mat is paired with a handmade charm with a word of affirmation and other yoga inspired designs.

This was such a fun project to do with my daughter. We spent so much time experimenting with different materials and designs. It was surprisingly meditative once we got the flow of things. Not to mention, a some really nice family time together.

She end up with the cutest pair of blob fish earrings hehe And I can't wait to make more of these this week.

🌞 Celebrating Unity on the Summer Solstice & International Day of Yoga 🌍🌱

Today, as we honor the Summer Solstice and International Day of Yoga, let's celebrate our interconnectedness as One Earth, One Family, and One Future. πŸŒπŸ’š

On our mats, we remember our deep connection with nature. As we breathe and move, we align our energy with the Earth's rhythm, awakening the wisdom within us. πŸ™βœ¨

Let's cherish Mother Earth, our source of inspiration and sustenance. Feel the sun's warmth and the gentle breeze, expressing gratitude for the elements that nurture life. 🌞🌊

Together, we commit to protect our planet, making sustainable choices and being mindful stewards of our home. πŸŒŽπŸ’™

As we celebrate unity and nature's blessings, let's extend love and compassion beyond borders, embracing our global family. Let yoga be our guide to spread kindness, understanding, and acceptance. 🀝❀️

Deepen your connection with nature, nurture oneness with all beings, and envision a future of harmony and peace. Together, we create a world that flourishes in unity. 🌈🌸

🌟 Embracing Healing and Laughter on Our Yoga Journey 🌟

Hello friends! πŸ™ I wanted to share a valuable lesson I've learned during my healing journey that I believe can add a sprinkle of lightness and laughter to our journey. πŸ˜„

One thing I've discovered is the importance of keeping our sense of humor intact. Throughout this healing journey, there have been moments that prompted tears, but there have been countless more moments that, when viewed through a lens of humor and openness, have been downright hilarious. It's a reminder not to take anything, including ourselves, too seriously! 🌈

My personal technique is to imagine if we were watching all of this on an episode of Friends or something. To the characters, every event seems like the end of the world. But, to the audience looking in, we can still relate but also see how funny something really is. 🎬

So, I encourage you, whatever your situation, to step outside yourself! Find the humor! Laugh at yourself! Life is flipping hilarious! πŸ˜‚πŸŒ±

While we navigate our individual paths, let's lighten up, find moments of joy, and embrace the healing power of laughter. 🌟 Laughter brings us together, releases tension, and shifts our perspectives.

I'm grateful for your unwavering support and understanding during my healing journey. Your dedication to our yoga community inspires me each day, and I cannot wait to be back with you all, sharing laughter and practicing yoga together. πŸ€—β€οΈ

Keep shining your light, finding humor in life's twists and turns, and cherishing the moments of joy that come your way. Let your laughter be a reminder that we are all connected on this beautiful journey of self-discovery and growth. 🌻✨

"Today, I allow others to help me while I am growing..."

This week's affirmation is a reminder that we can't always do everything on our own, and that is OK!

Allowing others to help is not selfish or a sign of weakness. In fact, When you let other's help you, you gain support, accountability, new perspective, and fresh ideasβ€”and you're better for it.

Unfortunately there will be no yoga at the lake for the next few weeks.

I have sadly injured myself and will be taking time to heal. I'll be sure to continue to post our weekly affirmations and try to keep you all updated with dates of our upcoming classes and hikes.

Thanks for you understanding!
