‼️Important Announcement for Parents that want Quality Athletic Development Training for their Children‼️
You can go to a basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, field hockey trainer and improve your sport specific skills.
They will also try to dabble in some athletic development training.
However, most if not all of them can only do one of the above. Meaning, they probably specialize in their sport but do not know how to train an athlete.
If I want to improve in basketball, I’d find a basketball trainer. Someone who specializes in what they do.
If I had a leaky faucet, I’d find a plumber.
If I wasn’t feeling good, I’ll find a doctor who specializes in my illness.
Same thing goes for training an athlete.
If u want to get faster, improve your agility, get stronger, then find a qualified athletic development coach.
Then ask them a few questions.
1. Do they have teaching/coaching experience with kids at all ages and development levels? For me, that is very important. Never underestimate the power of a good teacher.
2. How do they develop their training programs? Most just pick a workout they googled on the internet. 😡
3. How do they track their athletes progress?
Some trainers will say they have trained a variety of kids. However, training and coaching are very different. As a coach, u have a direct impact on that kid as a student and athlete. You are able to develop a relationship with your athlete which goes a long way in athletic development.
Don’t be fooled by the gimmicks or bells and whistles. The people that will try to show you the latest training method they found on YouTube. What they are really doing is covering up their lack of knowledge in training athletes.
Don’t put too much weight into the fancy facilities. Most of the time they are not giving you quality training and just trying to provide eye candy.
Tread lightly with the people who will try to run your child into the ground. Just because you are exhausted after a workout does not mean it was a good session. Anyone can get you tired. That’s not a testament of a good workout. What you really want to know is that what you worked on is transferable to your sport.
Not every child is the same. Your sport and position determines the demands of your training. A true coach/trainer will be able to improve upon your weaknesses while maximizing your strengths.
Training an athlete is more than putting together a collection of exercises. Do the exercises fit the athlete? Are they appropriate for the level of development & time of the training year. No magics bullets. Get past exercises (ingredients), stop being a short order cook and be a master chef. Your athletes will appreciate it & thrive.
A true athletic development coach understands the process and the journey.
You should demand quality for your child.
I have been coaching and training athletes for over 18 years. Athletes of all types.
With that being said I will be holding 1 on 1 training sessions and small group sessions starting in June.
Experience the difference.
