This past weekend, the Foxes celebrate their Senior’s last game on Parents with a massive win against UCSD! The Foxes had a dominant performance scoring twelve unanswered tries! It was truly an incredible team performance!🦊❤️‼️

The player of the game was rookie inside center Maeve Musselman! Maeve had an incredible game on both attack and defense. On attack, Maeve had some killer lines absolutely slicing up the UCSD defense. On defense Maeve was simply a menace. She had several monster tackles, putting UCSD on the back foot and setting her teammates up to steal the ball!

Our back of the game was rookie wing Faith Henderson! Faith played incredibly! She was always there to support her teammates, caught all the hard passes, and ran so fast absolutely nobody could have caught her! And she scored not one, not two, but THREE tried! A hat trick and a major accomplishment for Faith!

Our forward of the game was flanker Marjorie Haddad! Marjorie is a consistent weapon for the Foxes, not only is she one of our best runners, but she consistently has massive tackles and great energy. Marjorie’s comms were on point this game as she received several tip passes (whoop whoop) and led several pods! Marjorie (as always) had an incredible game!

Congrats to these Foxes, and all the Foxes on their big win last Saturday! Thanks again to our incredible seniors❤️ The Foxes will take the pitch again this Saturday in a double header against Grand Canyon University and Occidental. They will play at the Pomona Turf Field with the first kick off at 10am!

Our final Senior Spotlight is our Captain (and social media manager) Caroline Bullock! Caroline will be graduating from Claremont McKenna College with a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics! Caroline is originally from Helena, Montana, where she grew up playing basketball, volleyball, and track! On campus, Caroline is RA of Boswell Hall, part of the Kravis Leadership Institute’s Women in Leadership Development Program, a student representative on CMC’s Board of Trustees, a leader of barbell club, an avid intramural athlete, as well as a Co-Founder of a non-profit back in Montana focused on Government Transparency! A fun fact about Caroline is that she also practices with our men’s rugby team the Claremont Lions!🤠🦊❤️🦁
Caroline was recruited to rugby by Coach A’s dog Leo, and she will tell anyone who asks… she fell in love at first tackle! Caroline has definitely fallen in love with the sport, but like her fellow seniors she agrees that the people are what makes the Foxes so special. “Anywhere in the world, rugby creates such an incredible and exceptional community, but here at the Foxes we are more than a team, I’d consider us a family. I am incredibly grateful for teammates who will be my friends for life.” (It is so odd writing about myself in the third person). 🤳🥸👯‍♀️
Caroline’s has too many fond rugby memories to keep count of, but some of her favorites include coming back from losing at half to win against Loughborough University in front of her family, winning two National Championships (and getting sunburnt each time!), and playing a 7s tournament in New Orleans! 🏉🌎🦊
Her advice to current and future Foxes is to pour your heart out into everything that you do. Work hard, and play hard. Take care of others, and always take care of yourself. And dance always! (I think that’s pretty good advice) Caroline would also like to take this time to remind everyone that HOT GIRLS PLAY RUGBY! Caroline is not sure what she will do when she graduates, but she hopes to continue to play rugby! Congrats Caroline! We are so thankful for your passion, leadership, and all the work you do! We will miss you next year (and I’ll miss you all more!)! 🦊❤️🎓

Our next senior spotlight is our beloved President Sydney Riley! Syd will be graduating from Harvey Mudd College with a degree in Engineering this May! Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Syd grew up playing tackle football with her brothers, so Rugby just felt like a natural continuation of a family tradition! On campus, Sydney is highly involved. She is a part of Sustainable Claremont’s Composting Program, she grades for the Engineering department at Harvey Mudd College. She also has done four semesters of Atmospheric Chemistry Research, including mounting sensors on the rooftop of Jacob’s at HMC (which is SO epic!).🦊🧠
Syd got involved with rugby as a way to stay active in college and make friends, she remembered it seeming like a welcoming community. And she was right! Syd’s favorite thing about the team is the people! She says “It has been such a pleasure to get to know everyone from the seniors who welcomed me to team to the new rookies this year, as well as the amazing coaches. I’ve met many of my closest friends through Rugby, directly or indirectly, and that sense of community in valuable.” Two of Syd’s favorite Fox memories were celebrating in Houston my Sophomore year after we won our first National Championship. She also loved this year at Scrum by the Sea when we went to the beach after dark and walked out over the sand to where the tide had retreated and looked up at the stars and planes coming in. 🌊🦊🫶
Once she graduates, Syd plans to work for a few years then return to graduate school! Reflecting on the past four years, Syd’s advice to current and future Foxes are to go to the socials! Study breaks are ALWAYS needed! 📚🦊
Congrats Syd! We are so thankful for your leadership and all the work you do. We will miss you dearly next year!🎓🦊❤️

The next Senior Spotlight is one of our co-Vice Presidents and an incredible Lock (and human being) Susan Park! 🔒❤️Susan will be graduating from Scripps College this spring with a degree in Human Biology! While growing up in Anaheim, CA, Sussy wrestled and decided she wanted to join a similar contact sport in college! Susan ended up joining rugby because one day Kate McArthur convinced her to come to practice, and Susan has stayed since (thank goodness)! Outside of rugby Susan is a Korean TA at CMC and an animal caretaker at Keck. She is also the co-president of the 5C Pre-Nursing Club, a health advocate of Health Bridges, and she does research with mice looking at muscle proteins and performance! Wow!🧠🦊🏉
Susan has loved her time on the Foxes, and she agrees with our other seniors that the best thing about the Foxes are the people (shoutout the suities)! The teammates, friends, and coaches made through rugby are invaluable and simply put, the best! Susan’s favorite memories with the Foxes were traveling to Houston and winning Nationals (TWICE!!!) and she also noted that Regionals last year at Stanford was really fun! Susan’s advice to future foxes is to “Just joint he Foxes! It’s a new sport for mostly everyone, and you have the opportunity to be a part of a team of amazing people.”❤️‍🔥🦊
Though Susan is graduating this spring, she still hasn’t learned how to swim (nor has ) and she loves hamsters so much she wrote a book on them! Sounds like an accomplished tenure at Scripps and with the Foxes! After graduation, Susan will be going to nursing school! We are so proud of Susan and our ! We are so thankful for your kind energy, friendship, and leadership on the team! We will miss you dearly next year!🎓🦊❤️

The first Senior we would like to highlight is our Scrum-half and Backs Captain, Kate McArthur!❤️ Kate will be graduating from Scripps with a degree in Psychology. In high school, Kate played touch rugby, and though she considered playing soccer in college, she is so glad she joined rugby (and so are we!!). Kate has always loved team sports, and she can say without a doubt that her favorite thing about the team is the community! She said “This team has been like a family to me and I just have a blast being goofy with everyone at practice and playing beautiful rugby together.”🤪🏉
Kate’s advice to current and future Foxes is to get involved! She says “Joining clubs and extracurriculars is such a great way to meet cool people:) Rugby is for everyone so definitely don’t be intimidated if you haven’t played before, it’s just as much for you as anyone who’s played before. For school, find a balance - you need breaks and try not to be afraid to ask for help when you need it.” On campus, Kate definitely took her own advice as she is in Blue and White A ca****la, does Psychology and Legal Studies Research, she is a TA, loves spending time with her friends, and is a part of Scripps ResLife!🎤🎶🧠
Kate’s favorite Fox memory was our Nationals bid our sophomore year and first year on campus! Kate eventually would like to go to grad school but is unsure of what she will do immediately post grad. However, with family in the Midwest, Australia, and her parents currently in Nairobi Kenya, we can truly say that the world is in the palm of Kate’s hands!
Congrats Kate! We are so thankful for your leadership and your wonderful energy. We will miss you dearly next year!🎓🦊❤️

The Foxes had a big Saturday doubleheader this past weekend playing both ASU and CSUN! Our DI side lost a hard fought battle to ASU 10-15, and our DII side triumphed against CSUN in a 17-7 win!🦊
Our DI player of the game was our 8-man Ariel Heimanson, she was absolutely all over the place. She shut down all of ASU’s 8-man attacks, involved in too many tackles to count, and was absolutely critical in our support and ruck game.
Our DI forward of the game was ho**er Flannery Warner. Flan hustled the full 80 minutes and was always in great positioning! She also made some solid tackles and even stole a scrum!
Our DI back of the game was Sam Campbell. Sam ran hard and stepped up big! She added 5 points for the Foxes with a conversion and a penalty kick. We are so proud of Sam for stepping up and leading us!
Our DII player of the game was Ainsley Murphy! Ainsley made yards every time she touched the ball, one time it took more than 5 opponents to bring her down! She also launched hard in defense and made some massive tackles.
Our DII forward of the game was Adina Veloz, who made her debut as ho**er! When she came on at halftime she was absolutely everywhere- in every ruck, carry, and support line!
Our DII back of the game was Bella Milano! Bella played both wing and fullback this game, and though fresh to the sport was absolutely dominant in her tackles and big rucks! Her speed also can’t be beat!
As always, we are so proud of the Foxes and the hard work they put in this past weekend! The Foxes will return to the pitch in a DI match this Saturday against UCSD!🦊❤️

This weeks fox 🦊 in the wild is Ashlee Viveros! Ashlee is a freshman at the University of La Verne from Rancho Cucamonga, California. Ashlee started playing rugby in junior high, and when she was a senior in high school she came to a summer session with the foxes and has played with us ever since! Ashlee’s favourite memory as a fox is coming to scrum by the sea 🌊 with us! She loves that it’s a weekend full of 15s where she gets to play lots of rugby and spend time with the team! For the foxes, Ashlee is an outside centre or a wing, but she enjoys playing any back line position! Outside of rugby Ashlee is into anything crafty🧵 and she loves to make and sell her own jewellery! She is also bi-literate in ASL (so cool!) and can jump freakishly high! Ashlee’s fun fact is that she has 3 cats🐈, a dog, and a tortoise 🐢 called Cheeto! We love having Ashlee on the foxes, she’s a great asset to the back line and brings amazing energy to practice! 🦊🏉
