⚾ COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED ⚾
Good afternoon, everyone.
As many of you know, CYBSA has been working diligently to improve our baseball facilities for the youth of our community. Last year, the CYBSA Board appeared before City Council seeking approval to modify Field 2 (located by the concession stand) so it could accommodate both 40/60 and 50/70 field dimensions.
Currently, the field is set up as a 40/60 field, which serves our younger athletes well. Our proposal would allow the field to also be used at 50/70 dimensions, giving our older players an opportunity to develop on a field that better prepares them for the transition to middle school baseball, where they play on a 60/90 field. Anyone who has watched these athletes move between recreation and middle school baseball knows what a significant adjustment that can be.
This project would be completed at no cost to taxpayers. The improvements would be funded entirely through CYBSA, a nonprofit organization, along with grant funding secured specifically for this project.
Unfortunately, City Council did not bring the matter to a vote during our previous appearance. We will be returning to City Council tomorrow evening and requesting that this matter be placed back on the agenda for a vote.
Why is this important?
⚾ Our league could lose its charter status due to upcoming 2027 requirements.
⚾ As of 2025, 38 of New Hampshire's 42 leagues were already utilizing 50/70 dimensions for their Majors Division.
⚾ The delay in bringing this matter to a vote has increased the project cost by approximately $5,000.
⚾ CYBSA is hosting Districts this year, but because our fields do not meet the required dimensions, the tournament must be played in Newport instead of Claremont.
⚾ The 50/70 division also introduces rules that better prepare athletes for middle school baseball, including balks, leading off, and advanced base-running situations.
We are asking all baseball families, players, siblings, alumni, supporters, and community members to join us at City Hall tomorrow at 6:30 PM during Citizens Forum. If Council approves adding this matter to the agenda, we need a strong showing of community support.
Our youth deserve facilities that help them grow, develop, and compete at the highest level possible. Your presence can make a difference.
Please attend, share this post, and help us fill the room with supporters of Claremont youth baseball.
