Washington County Volleyball Club 2024 Season Information:
Players and parents,
We are very excited to announce the beginning of our THIRD season as Washington County Volleyball Club! We had such a blast coaching a great group of girls last year, and we are looking forward to another great season! Washington County Volleyball Club is the first and only volleyball club in Washington County! We have taken the time to give you some information about what is soon to come. Please read over the information provided if you are interested in being a part of the Washington County Volleyball Club.
What is club volleyball?
Club volleyball refers to USA Junior Olympic (JO) Volleyball, which is a national competitive volleyball network designed to provide training and playing opportunities for young pre-college athletes… Volleyball clubs compete under the same rules laid out by our national governing body: USA Volleyball.
When will the club season & events take place?
At WashCo we will start our season late November and carry on through April! We will practice twice a week in the evenings & tournaments are typically held every other weekend from January through April.
Where will practices & tournaments be held?
WashCo Volleyball Club has been given an amazing opportunity to use the gym at Millry Baptist Church in Millry Alabama once again! We are so thankful to their team for providing the community with a gym and a net to use! We do expect our club to start out small and over the years become bigger so we can travel further, but right now we are expecting to be a part of “local” tournaments at locations like the Mobile Fair Grounds & OWA Sports Complex in Foley, we would like to travel to Hattiesburg MS & Louisiana at least once this year!
When are club volleyball tryouts?
We currently plan on having tryouts on November 18th 2022. Tryouts will be open to all girls within Washington County. (6th through 12th grade)
How much does club volleyball usually cost?
Some clubs in the Gulf Coast region can be up to $1,500 per player per season. Our main goal is to provide an effective training opportunity without breaking the bank. We expect our program to cost around $800 per player for the entire season, this will cover coaching, uniform packages, & other season expenses. We have plans to begin fundraising & reaching out to Washington County Businesses for sponsorships to cover our tournament fees & equipment prices. (payment plans will be available during season)
What ages will this program be for?
Since we we are only starting our third season we would like to have 3-4 teams this year. Our first team will be for 6th-8th graders, our second team will be for 9th-10th graders & our third team will be for 11th-12th graders. (team ages may vary) Any player who was born before July 1, 2004 will not be eligible to play club volleyball.
Why is club volleyball a good idea?
Our club directors & coaches have all been a part of club programs in the past. We strongly encourage volleyball players to play club for several reasons:
- Gives players the opportunity to play volleyball at a higher level/ faster pace.
- Provides players with extensive training.
-Gives players the opportunity to travel across the Gulf Coast for tournaments.
-Gives players to meet other players and coaches outside of their highschool teams.
Will this interfere with other spring sports?
It is very important to us that our players put their school events before club volleyball. We will hold practices after school hours so that players can get everything they need done before they come to us. We will be lenient about school events & practices. We will work around our players schedules for the entire season.
What is your main goal with this volleyball program?
Our main goal is to provide our players with the opportunity to go even further with their volleyball career. We want this experience to be fun and safe for all of our players. By coaching our girls to the best of our ability we hope that they will learn new and improved skills. It is also very important to us that our players build new friendships with their teammates.
Do you have to have past experience to play club with this program?
We strongly suggest for girls that have already played volleyball on any level tryout, but if you have never played you just have a passion for it we recommend at least trying out as it may be the perfect opportunity to get training for future volleyball opportunities, we are aware that this may be the first playing opportunity for our younger girls and we are so excited to teach them “from the ground up”
What do I do if I want to be a part of this program?
We have listed our contact information below and you can reach out to us personally with any questions or concerns. We encourage questions so that our intentions can be communicated to all parents & players.
Online registration will open October 15th 2023, we will post it on our page!
