The first three pictures were life changing days.
Picture 1 — The day I decided to take accountability. I wasn’t happy with my appearance or strength. My goals were tied to my sport as well; I began to see peers have success (offers, strength, etc.). I was slipping in the classroom and in life. I lacked purpose and didn’t have a clear vision of the future I wanted. I had to be honest with myself, and I wasn’t doing everything within my control to achieve that success I desired. I started to take action—this was the birth of DBM. A mindset that saved me.
Picture 2 — Not much needs to be said. When you see what’s possible, you either get motivated or intimidated. I got motivated and never looked back. I doubled down on consistency—proper nutrition (more cutoffs), putting in the extra reps, and more. I had a dream, I chose my purpose, began to self-train (field/lifting), and made progress.
Picture 3 — A major setback was used as fuel. I suffered an injury late in my senior year, lost a significant amount of weight and progress made since picture 2. I was in a knee brace during most college visits. I knew my body was nowhere near ready for college, and I had to be prepared for an all-star game right before camp.
This started a 6-month self-rehab mission, and I came back better than ever. This time helped me push through the same injury in 2021.
The years after were spent bulking and cutting.
Three years after college and the game, I gained some insights.
An 18-year identity shift and transition. After my last season, it took about 6 months to fully recover after injuries (no weights for the first month)—self-rehab and a slow build-up. I balanced life, work, and realized that nothing is mandatory. It was a matter of pure choice for the first time, along with making better decisions about my diet—more cut-offs and moderation.
Just keep going and stay consistent.
