New 6 week sessions of Tai Chi will be starting at the Wyoming Recreation Center on September 8th.
Debra Leonard, a Senior Trainer with 21 years of practice, will be leading 3, 6 week sessions: Tai Chi for Health and Yang Style on Tuesdays and Sun
Style on Wednesdays. Each class will build on the previous.
Tuesday classes will be held from 10:15-11:15am and 11:15am-12:15pm in Studio A, Sept 8th-Oct 27th (20 participant max); Wednesday classes will be held from 5:30-6:30pm in Studio B, Sept 9th-Oct 28th (10 participant max).
Each 6 week session is $70. We now have an adult/youth (9-14 years old) pair option of $90. These are use it or lose it sessions so no prorated rates or refunds will be given for missed classes. Please register for your preferred time either with the above link or QR code. A class must have at least 6 registrations to be held.
Participants do not need to be members of the Wyoming Recreation Center or residents of Wyoming.
Each class starts with gentle warmups, then Debra will demonstrate the first move, so participants can see what it looks like. The form will be broken down in two to three movements, practicing each step until it flows into the movement freely. The class will practice that move until it is in memory and body. Each class will end with a five minute cool down. As the weeks go by, new forms will be added until the whole movement is fluid.
Participants will want to wear loose comfortable clothes to let the energy flow, nothing constricting and in layers. You will warm up as the session goes. Shoes should be of flat soles, like old fashioned Keds. Cross trainers or sneakers with higher soles will feel like boxes on your feet.
Participants are never down on the floor, always standing and any movement can be modified if needed.
