🥋⚡ NEW GEAR = NEXT-LEVEL TRAINING! ⚡🥋

Our students got to try out our new electronic chest protectors in class today—and they were a hit!

These protectors give students real-time feedback on the power and force behind their kicks, turning every round into an opportunity to improve accuracy, speed, technique, and power. 💥

It was awesome watching everyone adjust their kicks, challenge themselves, and see their progress right in front of them!

We’re excited to keep bringing new tools and technology onto the mat to make training even more engaging and effective. 👊

I wanted to share some great tips on the Parent SKILLZ word: PATIENCE.

As I posted last week, “A few seconds can make a BIG difference…”

Sometimes as parents we respond with too much anger, and that can be harmful and cause regression in our child’s behavior.

When you take a few extra seconds before responding to poor behavior, you will make better parenting choices, and ultimately help your child develop better behavior choices.

So how can you foster more PATIENCE as a parent?

I suggest you ‘catch yourself’ when you are about to explode. This does require you to be conscious in the heat of the moment, so be sure to identify your triggers by clarifying when you are most likely to lose your patience.

For example: many parents lose their patience on weekday mornings and/or nights when there are time constraints. Being aware of this when you wake up and then reminding yourself to deploy PATIENCE will help you stay conscious when you, and your child, need it most.

Another suggestion is to develop a plan for how to respond with PATIENCE when your child has poor behavior.

For example: your son spilled milk all over the couch after several warnings about drinking milk in the living room. A common reply would be to yell at your son as you are cleaning up the mess, but your game plan is to calmly work with your son to clean up the mess, and then have a calm talk about drinking his milk in the kitchen and being more careful with his cup.

Notice I mention being ‘calm’ when responding to your child? It does require a lot of self-control on your part. So be sure to take deep breaths, which will give your brain and body the necessary boost of oxygen to remain calm!

Keep in mind, learning to be ‘patient’ with your child will not happen overnight, but can become a habit with time and effort…

So, give my recommendations a try this week, and next week be on the lookout for a Parent SKILLZ worksheet where you’ll fill in the blanks to help improve your PATIENCE with your child!

Thank you for your attention, and have fun building the Parent SKILLZ PATIENCE this week!

🥋 Leadership Team putting in the work! 🔥

Today our Leadership students worked on their sparring skills—speed, control, timing, distance, and confidence.

Sparring isn’t just about learning how to fight. It teaches students to stay focused under pressure, make quick decisions, show self-control, and keep pushing when things get challenging.

Strong skills. Strong character. Strong leaders. 💪🥋

Take a few extra seconds when responding to poor behavior. This demonstrates compassion, empathy, and self-control on your part. Sometimes all you need to do is think about responding in the most patient manner to help re-direct your child. When it comes to helping your child develop respect, security, and self-esteem, PATIENCE is the most important ingredient!

Congratulations to Adeline, our September Leadership Team Student of the Month! 🥋👏

As a member of our Leadership Team, Adeline continues to set a great example through her dedication, hard work, and commitment to improving her martial arts skills.

Please help us congratulate Quinn, our September Junior Belt Student of the Month! 🎉👏

Quinn brings so much energy and enthusiasm to the mat! He loves taking fun classes with his buddies, breaking boards, and earning new belts — and we love watching his skills and confidence continue to grow.

His martial arts goals are to keep earning belts, learn the cool moves he sees the blue belts doing, and eventually learn to use a staff! 💪

Keep working hard, Quinn! Your excitement, determination, and willingness to learn are exactly what martial arts is all about. We’re so proud of you! ❤️🥋

Help us congratulate Quinn in the comments! 🎉
